    #5803243 - 06/29/06 01:08 PM (17 years, 7 months ago)

i have an apple laptop, and i cannot put a CD in the CD port because there is something blocking it, but there is no CD in the port, so could it be locked somehow, and how do i unlock it?

It is probably a busted optical drive. There is no way to lock the drive so that a disc cannot be inserted (that I know of). Try the following, but I doubt it will help. (This will erase any ram drive that you have and reset your clock as well. If you don't know what a ram drive is, then you aren't using one, so don't worry.)

Shutdown the laptop.
Turn on the laptop and immediately hold down OPTION-APPLE-O-F before the apple chime sounds. (Four keys, hold them all, keep holding them. O as in open, not the number zero)
Wait about twenty seconds, then let up the four keys.
You should be at a white screen with a bit of text and a blinky prompt.
Type "eject cd" and hit enter twice (no quotes)
Type "reset-all" and hit enter (no quotes)
At this point, the laptop will power cycle itself.
Now hold down four more keys, OPTION-APPLE-P-R before the chime.
Keep holding these four keys. You will hear a chime, and the laptop will power cycle again. Keep holding the keys until you have heard the chime four times.
After the fourth chime, let the keys up and the laptop will boot as normal.
See if you got lucky or not... probably not, but perhaps.
