Shantram is a book written by Gregory David Roberts and apparently it all really happend, its definatly worth checking out.
His opening passage describes being tortured and realizing that the only freedom/choice he had was to either forgive the torturers or to hate them.
This is exactly the pinnacle of the Jesus story. He was being tortured by people however he decided to ask for their forgiveness.
This choice ultimatly shows how you interact with the world. Weather you choose to forgive people who have done you wrong (or percieve they have done you wrong) or hate them. If you hate them then this will leak into everything you do, you will have aggression and not be able to be happy. If you choose to forgive them your core will be filled with peace.
This is easier said than done but I believe that this choice is what can bring people in and out of what others call 'christ conciousness'. However the label is kind of stupid because it may skew peoples egos into belileving that they have the supposed importance of christ when in fact the whole point of the jesus story is to help people understand the nature of the hate/forgive choice.

So its an either/ or situation, no in between, its either hate or forgive, what about varitiations in between, forgiving all the time makes you a total door mat that will lead emotions to ultimatly blow up in your face, rather it be their expense instead of mine, or atleast somewhat, sense you might've provoked the situation, you may have to assume some responsibility of the emotions and learn to forgive at that point,
but also not walking around being despiteful and a chip on ur shoulder, overexaggerating and overblowing the situation, freedom is directly proportional to the path of least resistence, and choosing to manage your emotions is part of that path,

Why? Forgiving doesn't mean you let people bring you down and trample over. ime it makes you stronger in controling your emotions (no rage, no hate, no negativity). Jesus was a peacefull man for the most part, he was in no way anyones door mat.

regardless if you can prevent it from happening again, offenses against you hurt, hurt your cause, are you going to go out of your way to forgive and educate these people everytime something happens, eventually your going to have to lay down the law,

Why should they hurt? Why should you allow yourself to get hurt by these ofenses? There's no need to educate those who do not wish to be "educated", just follow your own way, don't care what people say

Yeah I agree, but I said if it happens "all the time", which after a
awhile the negative environment will take its toll, and if you don't
educate or tell them to stop in an effect manner, they're going to
continue on and perpetuate the negative atmosphere, I don't know
about you but me, I can only tolerate so much b.s., that doesn't
mean I don't have a tolerance, of course we should all be tolerable
to a certain degree, but like I said I'm not going to be no door mat

I agree, well I just distance myself from negative environment if needed be (usually after a few good bangs with my head against the wall, but heck it's never too late). There's no need to remain in a negative atmosphere and build up tension that has a tendency to blow up.
