My wife and I did Hatha yoga for about a year - fucking knackering but worth it, there are moments when you get quite naturally high - it takes commitment and persistance.
The only reason we stopped was that the tutor got a better paid job elsewhere and the local sports centre we went to didn't get a replacement!

I definately recommend this book. http://deoxy.org/annex/8yoga1.htm Yoga means union, there are many different kinds, hatha yoga is concernerd with the body and isn't suitable for reaching the higher states such as dhyana unless integrated with other practices. I practice raja yoga which includes 8 seperate limbs. That's just speculation, although it will still do many great things. The key is practicing it regularely and constinantly. If you don't want to put the effort into it, don't expect results.

I would reccomend ashtanga yoga. I have experimented with different types and found this one to be most effective. It is a bit more aerobic than other types. There are times when i was practicing sun salutations and fasting and could feel the enegrgy from the base of my spine shoot up to the crown of my head and then disperse through my body and make it totally relax, and feel kind of like being stoned. There is this guy david swanson that is an amazing yogi. he has a few dvds out if you wanted that type of thing... It is probably something you need to practice every day.

GREAT for your body, dunno about the "mind" shit... meditation for me doesn't involve moving my body, but whatever.
