A couple interesting finds

My friend and I were mountain biking along the Rail Trail (WV) and took a break to smoke a bowl. Upon stopping I noticed we were right by a river and there were several horse ties on the trees nearby. There was a lot of horse shit and hay down there, so I figured I might find a mushroom or two (not expecting any of them to be active). So after looking around in the horse shit awhile I came upon some mushrooms that resembled liberty caps or maybe pann subbs.
Habitat: Horse Manure
Gills: Black
Stem: Very long and skinny, kind of dark reddish and sometimes fading to brown
Cap: small grey, some looked as if they might be brownish also, looked as if there was some sort of membrane left on the caps, Just a tan translucent membrane
Spore print color: jet black
Bruising: caps: looked to bruise slightly blue , but they were grey to begin with so it was hard to tell. Stems: were skinny and dark red to brownish grey, so it was very hard to notice any bruising if there was any.
Location: Along a creek in horse manure , Ritchie County, WVa
In my opinion they did resemble lib caps, because the cap was in that bell shape and just resembled what I thought was a dung loving psilocybe. I know that lib caps and pann subbs aren't on the list for WV, but is it possible that they could still grow on horse poopy in the right conditions?? I have some pics on my friend's camera phone, and I will try to post them as soon as I can
Well after that find I was a bit more motivated, and moved closer the the creek.I found several blue foots, which I was quite excited about seeing as how it was my first unaided blue foot find.
Habitat: Grass and around the base of trees
Gills: Light brown to dark brown.
Stem: White and hollow, pretty fragile.
Cap: Some completely brown (the ones that were wetter) and some were quite dry with creamy tan leathery caps. Some were very wavy and other ones the same size were nice and round with no waves.
Spore print color: choc. brown and maybe just a hint (slight hint) of purple.
Bruising: Most stems and caps were already blue before picking, but some (the wetter, all brown caps) didn't bruise until they dried a lil and the cap turned a nice creamy tan.
Location: Picked in Ritchie County, WV (along the Rail Trail)
The last description is not an ID request and is just for your information, as I have already consumed them and tripping as I type.
One last bit of postage....My friend just got back from Amsterdam/Ireland and brought back some Warm Ears hash (yum yum) and some kind of psychoactive truffle (philosopher stones). We consumed those also and complimented them with some pain killers, best buzz ever!!!!!

Liberty caps grow in the fall, and not in west virginia. Probably an inactive pan by your description. The second mushroom does not sound like a blue foot because of your stem description - white and hollow, pretty fragile. Not so smart of you to eat them, are you sure you were tripping?
Philosophers stones are Psilocybe tampanensis - sounds like fun.

A little scary to read that you ate some mushrooms that were id'ed by you.
This is judged by the fact that you think you found Liberty Caps growing from horse dung in the middle of summer in WV.
--Liberty Caps grow in the fall/winter on the West coast in the surrounding grasses (pastureland) of cow manure.
What you found were most likely inactive Panaeolus. Possibly campanulatus or solidipes.

Yes, I was tripping, and Yes they were blue foots. I may not know all my shit when it comes to mushrooms, but I can positively identify a blue foot. I was only making a comparison to a lib cap, and I did not say I thought I found one. It was just a question (whould it be possible for a lib cap or pann subb to grow in WV) I know that the only psilocybe that grow in WV is caerulipes, but there have been finds of cubensis in southern WV. So is it at all possible that a lib cap or pann subb could grow in WV given the right conditions and spores were present??
remember, this is just a question, no need to be a dick!!!!

Also, you said that they were probly an inactive species such as campanulatus or solidipes. Well I am positive that campanulatus is an active pann species. Please check your facts before replying to one of my posts

How is your being convinced that campanulatus is active a 'fact' and how could this have been checked?
Based on your previous posts, you probably did find blue-foots but chill - we're just looking out for your health here!

Campanulatus are definetly not active. I can tell you that for a fact. They have been said to have isolated very small traces of psilocybin, but, you would need pounds to get a high. Eating that much would involve shitting for several days straight and a minor "buzz".
I think you need to get your facts straight. Questioning if Liberty caps will be growing directly out of horse manure on the east coast and then saying you have another active species scared me. I was just assuming that your ignorance in other species and identifying would carry into other realms.
If you've positively id'ed the bluefoots, then Im sure you can ID them again. Ihave never seen you post before, so I didn't know what to expect.

the quick reply feature is quite handy if you know how to use it. I was replying to angryshroom not you.
Angryshroom: I was just on the defensive, my bad. I'll should have some nice caerulipes specimens in the next couple days, and I'll take some nice pics to share!!!
happy shroomin'
