College and Camping

I live near Atlanta, Georgia. I have plans of going to school in North Georgia, hopefully Dahlonega What I want to do, is instead of getting a dorm, GET A CAMPSITE. That's right, a place where you can take showers, have an electricity plugin, and even bring generators. However, instead of hundreds(thousands) a month on DORM FEE's, I might be able to live for even a mere $100/month + tuition/books. And I can't stop thinking about how cool it would be to have an our door patio at my campsite, screened in with mosquito net, lit by candles, open air, a table, a nice chair, and me there studying for my classes. IN THE WOODS. Imagine parties at the campsite, and being in nature, while studying. How cool would it be to live at a campground outside of class, and even have a cool site to go home to every day. I could totally make it happen. The only downside, is I wouldn't have internet access. Does anyone know how to get internet access at a place like a campsite, near a city? If I had the web, that would be the ultimate setting, and the ultimate school experience.

Can that be done for under $40 a month? I don't care if it's dial up speed

I was told by cell phone provider that this does not cost much as long as you don't download. You would need to check this out for your area/provider.

You'd need to be close enough to get cellular service. Other than that, what would differentiate using a cell phone from a regular modem? If thats the case, Sprint has unlimited nights and weekends starting at 7. Might be your best bet.
More practically, I'd consider your proximity to campus. IMO even being 10-15 min. by car would take a way a lot of the spontaneity of "Lets go drop by and see so, and so at his dorm". Personally, I gained a lot from the experience of living within 1 square mile of 3,000 kids all living away from mom and dad for the first time at the ripe age of 18. It's obv. your choice though.

Clearly I would be at least 10+ miles from the Campus. But I honestly think I would like it. As specific as I am, as to who I hang out with, this would be perfect. Not to mention, in North Georgia, in the high hills, the possibilities are endless. I would seriously have the most rigged out campsite ever, with my own agriculture studies taking place like, within my site. Imagine how leet my tent would Be. This idea is just exciting.
Internet access... yeah, this is extremely important for my campsite. Where as I'll be cooking camp style every morning there is ONE modern day idea I can't do away with, while in college. : the internet :

Camp sites usually cost alot more than 3 bucks a day. Most places I've been to are at least $10 a night. You'd be better to get an apartment.

Even if it was ten a night( which it might be, even more) $300 a month for electricity, board, and utilities( food is nomile) is pretty damn good. 300 a month for me, might be $1000 a month in a Dorm.... right? Damn true, with food cost these days. Good thing I cook, fish, hunt, foramge, study, and STUDENTIZE, right?

I have feeling I know of the college you are thinking of. Would you be required to do ROTC at the said college?

$10 is probably the least a campsite will cost you per day. Dorms cost nowhere near $1000 a month and if you get the most minimal meal plan, if you even got one, you'd probably be spending the same amount a month for a dorm as you would for the campsite alon, and thats before you factor in the fact that a dorm room comes with high speed internet, much faster than cable or DSL. Not to mention you will be within walking distance of your classes and all of the other perks that come with living on campus. Gas is expensive as hell and driving to and from campus every day would cost a whole hell of a lot. But by all means go for it if you think it would be cool.

might be to your advantage to have the local apartment scene scoped out before you commit to camping, in case thigns don't work out.
all in all it sound like a pretty kick ass way to live.
