any of the seattle people find the need to use any humidifiers besides perlite? right now it's really dry and it's not supposed to rain for a while... wondering if i should break out my cool mist... I don't have a hygrometer, so just wondering what everyone else is doing... if you don't want to give away your loc, you can pm me

If you're using a terrarium, perlite is fine. A humidifier won't give as high a humidity as the perlite does. If you're worried, just get a humidifier and run it in the room the terrarium is located in, but not into the terrarium itself. Get a hygrometer and make sure to calibrate it properly. RR

As long as the walls of your FC are covered with heavy condensation, you've got near 100% humidity. Perlite works better in the 75 F range, so if it's cooler than that, you may want to up the heat with some light. And you can also make a removeable seal with clear silicone and petroleum jelly for your FC's lid. GL.

Actually, condensation has little to nothing to do with humidity. Condensation forms on the side of a beer can in the arizona summer when humidity is in the single digits. It also forms on your windows in the winter when the indoor humidity is very low.
Condensation is an indication that the inside of the terrarium is warmer than the outside. RR

aight, i have cool mist humidifier running in my room while i sleep anyways just because i have bad allergy problems, and the perlite in the FC should be fine i guess.
btw, I haven't moved them to the FC yet... i have 6 half pints of wbs around 80% and just waiting for my tennstud to come in the mail. just want to make sure conditions are optimal before i go about casing my beauties. i have a few brf cakes that i should probably birth soon, but i'm getting tired of looking at cakes and really want to give this whole grain->hpoo->50/50 thing a shot.
thanks for the help rr and roadkill.

i made my PMP with perlite and a bubble wand. i made 6 nail sized holes on the top of the pmp. i checked my meeter and i was gettng 80% humidity. im guessing it was pretty low b/c my container wasnt air tight and i made the vent holes at the top. to raise my humidity all i did was stick another air hose into my water under the perlite and its at a constant 90%
ive seen people just stick a hose or bubble stone in a jar with water and it helps with humid. cheap and easy
