about 3-4 weeks ago I had some contamed cakes of EQ so I threw them in a spot where there is mulch for ground cover and let them be. My question is about a foot or two away I have these shrooms that look like EQ but they are not in the mulch they are growing out of the ground with no grass. They are growing around two logs not on them by any means I am positive. The logs just provide shade I assume thats why they are in that formation. I live in northern IL if that helps.

You never really asked a question..... But I can tell you - Don't eat a mushroom unless your are 100% SURE that it is safe. There are many look-alikes that are fatal. Now... are you asking if the mycelium could have taveled that far?

On dirt I doubt it, but crazy shit has definately happened before. As for no blueing reaction, I would not mess with them. They should definately turn blue. Within an hour or less IME. Some turn blue almost instantly.

Mushrooms that grow our doors need to be identified, even if they were in a area you thought were cubes, different ones can grow in the same area.
I dont suggest playing with outdoor mushies for newbies, outside of practicing, because if your wrong in identifying them could cost you your life or health.
Get a few books and or check out the huning forum.

Regardless of bluing I would not eat them, you need to do a lot more to properly identify them, not just bluing.
Seriously man you can be putting your life on the line!!!!!!!!!

This is GREAT advice. If you don't know , don't eat.

Visually identify, print, bruise, observe the area. If they grew under a log, check what the myc was attached to. They're probably growing off of some wood. If that is the case, they are not cubes.

yea I'm defiantly not eating them, but probably setup something just to look at that is visually pleasing. They are quite interesting like eq's but short stems and over sized caps. Dont have a digi cam so no pics.
