Think I messed up pasturizing. Help

Alright, so I did the pillow case in the big pot thing for my dry tennstud yesterday and I think I overheated it.
I read somewhere on here that if it gets up close to 200 degrees, it'll be a bacteria fest in there.
So last night, it didn't smell too bad at all, but today I come home to my 90 degree garage where it's draining, and it smells BAD. Not like ammonia or anything, just bad poo smell.
Can I repasturize and fix it? My spawn is really getting old now and really can't wait much more without completely starting over.
What can I do? Is it ok to spawn? Help is greatly appreciated

The temps you're looking for are 160F. I THINK pasteurization kicks in around 145F and turns into sterilization around 185F. So if you hit 200F, you definitely sterlized it.
As for as the poo smell, that might be a different problem altogether. Sounds like it wasn't leeched properly. I don't suppose that bacteria could overrun sterilized hpoo within a day but that's not something I have experience with, I'm merely speculating.
You can't repasteurize once you've sterilized.
As far as using it, I wouldn't. If it's got a poo smell it isn't suitable for growing. If the poo is from bateria it's definitely a lost cause.
I hope someone more senior than me jumps in on this thread. I'd hate to steer you wrong.

Well once I got it out of the cases, it seemed a lot better. I think most of the smell was the drainage water that was puddled in the tub, plus being in the summer heat in the afternoon. I think it was ammonia actually. It smells pretty good now I think. I'm learning a lot for my first time.
The only reason I went so hot was cause it was a big pillow case. I had two thermometers, one meat probe into the case towards the center, and another in the water.
The case was so big that I couldn't get the middle of the poo up to temp so I turned it up. so to reach 160, some of the water got up to about 200. So actually the poo in the middle of the case never went past 160. Around the edges probably sterilized.
Lesson learned, should have done smaller amounts or used the cooler TEK
Thanks splif

Take that poo and load up some myco bags. Pressure cook for 1.5 hours and pop some spawn in the bags.
Next time just put your poo in an old cooler with a drain plug. Have the poo in a laundry bag first. Boil up some water, let cool to 175 and pour it in.

bacteria are fast little buggers and if they were a problem certainly could make themselves noticed in just a days time.
but your conclusions just now are spot on and as good as the best advice anybody could have given you... experience is an even better teacher than the shroomery it is gonna be just fine too.

You'll be fine. The idea with pasteurization is for the bacteria to survive, while killing the mold spores which die at a much lower temperature.
Remember, bacteria is only a problem with your spawn, be it brf, rye, wbs, whatever. Once your spawn is fully colonized and placed into a bulk substrate, bacteria is your friend as it helps to keep the substrate alive, therefore resisting molds such as trichoderma. RR
