i was wondering if anyone had any pics of what to look for right before pinning. im just curious because i have a small container thats been in the fc for about a week. i have a bunch of small little white balls emerging from the casing layer in many areas.

i was told to put my container in the FC when myc started to pop through on a couple spots so thats what i did. this is about 6 days later. the pics came out a little crappy IMO. just try to imagine the myc being much more rich in color. very fluffy

Look in some of the grow logs. Most have pics, and after looking at a few of them you should get a better idea of whether yours looks right or not.
OR, you could post a pic of your situation and I guarantee you will get feedback on its condition.

those small little white balls are exactly what to look for, pins should set real and you'll be able to make out the caps in no time.

what ya think? its just crumbled brf cakes. i followed this tek. http://www.shroomery.org/index.php/par/23805 only thing i did not do was pat down. i was told not to do that. i just gently tried my best to even it out and never touched it since.
forgot to add my fc is anywhere from 72-76 degrees. and my humidity % is 87-90%

I think things look okay. Its all about patience, my friend. Patching might be neccessary for an even pinset, but I think you've got it. Good luck! Post some pics of those pins when you get them

I asked the exactly same question in this thread. Turns out all those little bitty bead-shaped white balls are future pins.
I wish I had a good picture of them so we could compare but I just picked up a decent camera today. But this is what they all turned into:

You should have bona fide pins within 24 hours, 36 max.

He he... my 7 days guess was just to make him patient and optimistic if it does take longer, hahaha. Anyway... Keep us posted!

If you're doing a monotub (I don't think you are) then no, don't mist. If you're not doing a monotub (or doing a monotub and cheating by peeking like a motherfscker), then yes, you need to mist. Try to keep direct water off the pins.
And remember the point here is to keep the substrate hydrated, not drowned.
I use two methods to accomplish this. First, I use a VERY fine mist and second, I spray the walls which tends to make the water accumulate and run down the sides of the tub, not accumulate on the mycelium itself.
