It's like your children. They contain the same DNA but they are different. Some parents even have a favorite one of the bunch! *wink*
My favorite strain is my daughter..er.. oops! I mean
Orissa India. A little slower to get started than say SA, AM, or CAM, but then they explode. At least that's how it's been for me.

Ummm... They DON'T "contain the same DNA" unless they are identical twins. That's WHY they are different.

they have 99.9% of the same dna though... it's just that .1% that makes us different

Meaning: The DNA is from the same source. Unless the milkman was visiting alot some years ago in my case.
Maybe I should start wording myself a little more carefully for you. You seem to want to argue the syntax rather than the semantics of what I'm trying to say.
Perhaps if you take a little more time trying to understand what someone means, and less time trying to argue, we can all make some progress together.

If Roadkill says South Americans....I would take that as Holy Gospel !
I've heard Roadkill tout that one several times in the Shroomery, and that is definately going be my next grow.
Can't go wrong with advice from one of the masters at this hobby !

Growing B+ now, will be looking for a faster colonizer for my next grow. Methinks South American, Cambodian, or Texan will be my one, or all of my next grow.

Arrrg... Complicated topics reduced to soundbites always create misconceptions. You're probably confused by the soundbite factoid that chimps and humans share >98 percent of their DNA. That's based on computer sequence alignments and discounts insertions, deletions, inversions, and translocations. It depends on the level of analysis you're doing. If you look at base pairs then yes everyone has pretty much the same DNA, but if you look at the gene level then people don't really share that much with each other and almost none with chimps.
When talking about heredity and similarities you're talking about the gene level. Anyway suffice it to say that I am knowledgeable on this subject. Trust me, I'll shoot you straight.
You share 50% of your DNA with each of your parents, and also 50% with your siblings. Identical twins share 100%. You share 25% with your uncles, aunts, grandparents, and nephews. You also share 12.5 (1/8) with (first)cousins.
> Maybe I should start wording myself a little more carefully for you.
It's always good to say what you mean and mean what you say.
> Perhaps if you take a little more time trying to understand what someone means, and less time trying to argue, we can all make some progress together.
I'm not just trying to argue. I was correcting a basic misstatement of fact. I wouldn't call that arguing semantics. If I thought it was just a semantic argument I wouldn't have made it. I'm not trying to put you down, just correct you.

Again FF, you miss my point entirely.
I was speaking of a parent to child relationship. In our case the parent is P. Cubensis. The child is the 'substrain' or 'strain' as we call it. I speak of variations that have occured through environmental and genetic decent. Very similar to our own children compared to ourselves.
In the future, I will put more effort into wording things a little more clearly for you.
I will say it again. If you spend more time trying to understand what people are saying, and less time trying to come up with a counter point, it makes learning together far less tedious.

I'll be growing golden teacher and koh samui super strain as soon as my spores come in. I wanted to compare an old, tried and true strain versus a new fangled turbo strain.
I think it'll be interesting.

That sure does sound awefully marketted doesn't it? "Super Strain"!
I bet that shit will jump out of the casing and rescue you and your dog if your house catches fire.
It will be so fast... one minute you're sleeping and the next you're standing in the street watching as some lightning fast blob of white is putting out the fire that has engulfed your house.

KSSS was the first strain i bought from T.H.E.
Because it had superstrain in it's name... Let me tall ya one thing. There is nothing super about that mushroom. I believe it sucks in every catagory of cultivation.

KSSS is good for looking at, the mushrooms are definatly unique. but besides that: shitty pinset, slow and irregular growth, low yeilding.
