Salvia question (well, it could apply to others too)

I feel really stupid askin this but i want to make sure that i do this right. I purchased 10x salvia today, .5 grams as well as a small smoking device (aka pipe). I assume that the pipe is ready to use but I thought that pipes need some type of screen or filter to make sure that the ashes aren't inhaled, maybe the design alone works, but just dont' know. Can someone help please?

The 10x is most likely too powdery to smoke without a dense screen. When I smoke salvia out of my bowl I pack a few small nuggets of weed in the bottom to block the hole. One tenth of a gram of 10x will be an interesting experience provided you have a screen or a few little nugs to keep the extract from getting sucked right into your mouth; yuck! Good luck!

hmm....i think that i must've done this wrong. I held it in for 30 secs, i had enough in my pipe to do this about 4 times. I used a foil paper filter, poke a few very small holes in it. I felt some come in my mouth but not much at all. When i would exhale i could see a faith smoke come out, so i know some was in there but i didn't feel anydifferent at all. Seriously, i bought Salvia Zone color yellow and i didn't have any effects, what could have went wrong?

I'm wondering if the flame was hot enough...seems to me the foil would have burnt to shit had the proper flameage been used. A torch lighter is preferred, but a high flaming regular one has worked for me as well. Try putting something else ( haevy wire screen, buds, hell, even a small pebble) over the hole in pipe. You need constant hot flame the entire time you are inhaling, even after the "plant material" is gone. The crystals may have attached themselves to edge of pipe or your plug, so wave your hot flame all around the bowl. HOT!! And I agree with above dosage: 1/10th of a gram(.1), with proper technique, is enough for a ride!! Not much in bowl, but watch out! Practice, starting low and working up. Peace and safe journey to all

you can make a screen for a small spoon pipe by using a small roundish pebble, or a twist of tinfoil.
since you are using extracts you can use a match or regular bic lighter
if you believe that you need an industrial torch to indulge, I predict much trouble.
absolutely under no circumstances use any device that requires the slightest intelligence to TURN OFF.
anyway 99% of the ideas about torches and salvia are fallacious.
for more information search on salvia torch using the search facility here at the shroomery.

yep, but also, keeping a lighter on the salvia is important. smoking off just cherries is a huge waste.

Yes, get a screen, it sounds like you purchased some powdery 10x salvia.
-------------------- I believe with the advent of acid we discovered new way to think and it had to do with piecing together new thoughts of mind. Why is it that people think it's so evil? What is it about it that there is scares people so deeply? Because they are afraid that there is more to reality than they have ever confronted. That there are doors that they're afraid to go in and they don't want us to go in there either because if we go in, there we might learn something that they don't know. And that makes us a little out of their control.
