So, why dont the American people do something? In my opinion, passive acceptance of government policy and the acutal implementation of these policies is one in the same. They are mutually dependent.

Some Americans do, I vote against them. I contact my representatives and
tell them. I try and convince others that what is happening is wrong. The mass
of men are sheeple, domesticated primates who want to be coddled and
taken care of by their government. They do not desire freedom, they desire
to be Free-from (responsiblity for themselves and political discord).
As long as they have their comforts, their cable TV's SUV's and government
'safety net' they will accept almost anything because they are being taken
care of and that is all that matters. What do you suggest for the minority who
are opposed? Armed revolt? Ever heard of Waco?

I think it would be a good idea for everyone who sees this post and is disgusted
by the scenes that they see to copy these photos and post them to any and all
boards/newsgroups that they can think of. It is important that people do not
remain ignorant of what is happening. The regular media refuse to cover this
so it is up to us who use the internet to change the tide of public opinion in the US.

I've never seen the paper publish photos in the editorial section (other than mug
shots of the pundit class) and this is what I think will make the impact. However,
I will follow your suggestion and I will also send them the photos.

would you be so kind as to provide a link where these photos are published so I could:
1) get permission for the paper to publish them
2) provide a url to include in the editorial, especially if the paper won't publish them

Nice one! Just a few corrections to your history: there were 678,000 jews in Isreal in 1948 and 1,269,000 arabs (the UN partition proposal of 1947 gave the arabs 45% of the land although a lot of the jewish 55% was the Negev desert. Jerusalem was to be an international city and neither arab nor jewish states would have borders that were anything close to defensible.) the Isreali state was proclaimed in 1948 not 1949. FYI :-)

I was being a bit sarcastic. When you said words can be as effective as pictures
you should have qualified that with "sometimes." There is also a saying that "one picture
is worth a thousand words." In many instances this is true. I do not know how
I could effectively describe in words the images that these photos portray. When
people are paging quickly through a newspaper, their eyes will pick up headlines
and photos, very seldom (if ever) will an intricate wordy description catch
their eye.
I could give a flying fuck about thinking of myself as an activist. I am more
concerned about the effectiveness of conveying a message with the means
available. A large number of the media in this country are heavily influenced/
controlled by people of the Jewish persuasion. The media also depend on access
to the government for news, if they piss off government officials, they will stop being
fed the news and their competitors will get many stories before them. Hence, the
concept of using the internet, it's unregulated, accesses by more and more
people daily and ideas/stories that don't get picked up by the traditional media
can be easily disseminated.

'Physicians for Human Rights-Israel' reached us after midnight (Israeli time).
Through a telephone chain the Physicians for Human Rights called upon other peace
and human rights activists to assist in the effort of approaching political
officials, diplomats, etc. We were told that the situation worsened after the
email was written on, because Red Cross vehicles which were accompanying Red Crescent
ambulances were fired on this evening and they have ceased accompaniment.
This means that all medical services in Ramallah are totally cut off at this point.
Doctors and patients can not get to the hospitals. PHR is currently trying to help
a pregnant woman in El-Bireh get to a hospital, there are people who are wounded.

The 'Union of Palestinian Medical Relief Committees' and 'Physicians for
Human Rights - Israel' jointly appeal for an end to the humanitarian nightmare
in the Palestinian territories.
Ramallah is now under complete occupation, 120 tanks are present on the
streets, and both helicopters and tanks are bombarding different
neighborhoods with missiles. Two hospitals, the Ramallah Hospital and
Ramallah Maternity Hospital, have been fired upon by Israeli troops. Also,
as in many places in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, soldiers have this
morning fired upon two ambulances in Ramallah.
Additionally the Israeli army is preventing access to medical care for the
sick and wounded, by forbidding their movement to hospital, and also by
refusing medical teams access to them for treatment at the scene. Clearly,
preventing access to the wounded will lead to more deaths; preventing sick
people from receiving treatment will also contribute to more deaths.
We urgently demand action from the world - international and humanitarian
organizations must immediately force the Israeli government to halt this
atrocity. We call upon you to demonstrate, to call governmental
representatives, to take any action that will allow Palestinian wounded
and ill to receive medical treatment - preventing more unnecessary deaths.
We also plead for foreign governments to act to bring an immediate halt to
this aggression by the Israeli army, and an end to this humanitarian crisis.

I'm not sure of the direct source of the photographs. They are pretty common on the different Muslim forums on the internet.
wingnutx: Seems you're leaning towards the zionists. Palestinian terror is just as wrong as the terrorism the democratic State of Israel carries out. Palestinian terror is a direct result of Israel's illegal occupation in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. The only way to peace in the Middle East is for Israel to withdraw completely from the West Bank and Gaza and for the UN to establish a Palestinian state in these areas.
