fruiting help (pics)

Okay so I've had my casings in my fruiting chamber for about a week now and here's how they look. The cake has been in a week and a half and so far no signs at all of pinning on ANYTHING. I'm not sure what to do next on the casings since these are my first. They are 60/40 verm peat and have almost fully colonized the top layer. Do I coldshock them next? Or patch (what do you use for patching)? Or what? I thought they would have pinned by now, but the myc just keeps growing and growing (which I guess isn't a problem) but I thought by now it would be pinning time. Help please someone with more experience.

I did a lot of looking at cobweb and looking at my casing. I think it's just the camera cause in person it doesn't look like cobweb, but it's barely coming through the top layer. At least I hope. I did pressure cook everything and did this in a very sterile envrironment, but i guess it's possible. So I should patch and then dunk it again? Also do I patch with casing soil? Thanks

i scratched the little one and put it in the fridge. The big one I tossed... after scratching i just didn't have a good feeling about that one. As for the little cake... what's his problem?

Are you using 60/40 verm/peatmoss for the entire tray or just as a casing layer on top of hpoo or straw or something of the sort? I don't think you can/should use all peat & verm if that's what your using. I can be corrected though..... If not, what are you using for a substrate? What is the RH in your FC?

Just out of curiosity, what are your temps @?
Mine (see sig) took exactly 7 days from being placed in the fruiting chamber (at a constant mid-70's, 100% RH) until pins formed. So another day or two might reveal pins. It could even be two weeks but patience is key.
Trust me, I know it's harder to BE patient than it is to TALK about patience. I'm terrible at it.

oh no.
they all look totally fine. 7 days is nothing. you just wasted the big case. you've delayed the little one even more. leave the cake alone before its too late.
there was no overlay. no scratching needed. there was nothing to patch, it was looking pretty good. get the little one out of the fridge, cold shocking does nothing but slow it down even more. you got a load of bum advice and acted way too quick on it. boo... the only problem (as far as the pictures reveal) any of them have is they haven't had enough time to let mother nature do her thing yet.
and you get access denied on that link because you don't have enough posts to be "allowed" to view the grow log section just yet. you need a certain number of posts and have to be registered for a certain length of time before you can get in there... i forget the exact numbers.

the little one is coming out lol.. the cake is still untouched, and I did find specs of green mold in the big one so whether I acted to quickly or not I think that one needed to be scratched. However I am going to put the little one back in the chamber and let more time do it's thing. Thanks everyone who's responding. I know I'm impatetient, but I'm also very new to casing so I'm kinda antsy. Even if these fail I'll make more, so it's no biggy... lol thanks again

well if you had green mold on the big one there's still things to save it but usually not worth the trouble or risk of messing up your grow area, so you did the right thing.
scratching a casing is almost never necessary, unless you have very severe overlay... which you didn't have IMO. its going to take some time to recover now anyway but let it be. watch your growing parameters instead, humidity, fresh air, etc. when you run into problems look there first before doing anything drastic to your grow itself. it can take up to 2 weeks to see pins, 7 days is a barest minimum and its usually more like 10-14 days. good luck, and keep on eye on that cake, its gonna show you some action first.

there is absolutely no overlay on this casing. Like creamcorn said scratching is a last ditch effort. Your casing was looking fine, just give it some time man my last PE casing took 11 days to pin.

no, you shouldn't be able to view the growlog forum without being a registered user fitting the requirements set to view that forum. Same thing with the market place.
