Does anyone know if there was any further investigations when it came to the Anthrax attacks in 2001 against leading politicians of the Democratic Party and others that cost the lives of five people. Despite the fact that all evidence points to Fort Detrick, US military instalation...this case was closed without any fanfare or arrests.

Why hold the democratic politicians liable? (I'm not defending the creep(s), just curious why you blame them in this case?)
I would be very surprised if the US government doesn't know exactly who did it and has more than enough evidence to get a conviction. However, when somebody that has done illegal things for the government is put on trial, the illegal things that the government had this person perform will be on record. In these type of cases, the government will ignore the evidence and not press charges in order to protect itself. Before somebody folds me a tinfoil hat, post WWII history is full of examples.

I'm not holding the Dems liable. I meant imply that they were obviously the target.

I remember when I went to see Paul Stamets last year at the Oregon Country Fair, he talked about the anthrax scare, and said that he found the evidence "very suspicious." He then stopped himself, saying that he had already said too much.*
*Note: As part of Operation Bioshield, he was given security clearance to classified information.

A perfect example would be Frank Olson (An ex-nazi who oddly enough was developing chemical weapons for the US..including Anthrax)..and was allegedly assassinated by the CIA. (Cheney and Rumsfeld were given the task of covering up the details of Frank Olson’s death. At the time, Rumsfeld was White House Chief of Staff to President Gerald Ford. Dick Cheney was a senior White House assistant.)
In a memo Cheney acknowledges that "the Olson lawyers will seek to explore all the circumstances of Dr Olson’s employment, as well as those concerning his death. In any trial, it may become apparent that we are concealing evidence for national security reasons and any settlement or judgement reached thereafter could be perceived as money paid to cover up the activities of the CIA".
Frank Olson’s family received US$750,000 to settle their claims against the US government.
