PAN-cakes--pics-updated!
    #579548 -

Well, I have been absent for a while so I would just like to say "hello!" to eveyone.
A while back Anno had started a post in which he was trying to get Pans from cakes. Unfortunately, he was not successful. In that thread I had stated that it was possible and that I had had this happen before, but I had no pics.
Well, now I have the pics. I had stated that in order to be successful I had to let them pin while in the jars because the cakes are so fragile. After they begin to pin is when to remove the cake--BUT you have to be VERY careful because they are so FRAGILE. Well, here are some pics of the cakes 24 hours after removing them form the jars. I will hopefully get mature fruits soon and post the final product. Enjoy!!

Cakes

Pins

Notice the cakes "tops"--bottom of jar side--is missing. That is where the majority of the pins were and the cakes broke when I was removing them from the jars---Again, they are VERY fragile.

Hi, my friends pan cakes started out like that too but the pins would never mature, I was thinking that one of those flat cake teks might work but you would have to have a very sterile terrarium because pan cakes contam really easy. he just cases now for better yeild.

Ok here's a response:

It's a question actually, what recipe/ tek did you use?
I assume you used some sort of manure; what kind was it? And where can I get some?  Obviously if the answer is cow patties from a pasture I feel stupid but if its zoodoo or something, I'm curious.

Thanks, and I wish you luck with those. looks good

Man, I am awe inspired by those shrooms from other pics I've seen. I am very interested, I just don't have too much experience yet at all and should definitely stick to cubensis for a while!!!! From what I've seen those are some scary looking shrooms, I would definitely be hesitant the first time I tried them!!! I also was wondering what those cakes were made of, they sure don't look like a dung flavor!! If I rig up some contraption to gently cradle the cake could I get it to fruit in a hydra-pod? I realize that it would get all kinds of fucked up on the geolite, but I could rig a way with some sterilized cheesecloth or something. Or is the Hydrapod's enviornment way to contaminated? Sorry but I'm not too familiar with this strain's growth parameters, can't wait to see pics of your cakes though when fruiting!!! Good luck!!

Here is the "almost" finished product. I am VERY surprized by the absense of response by memebers that would/should ordinarily have something to say on this subject. This is like photographing BIGFOOT people!!!!-LOL
to answer a few ?'s
Yes, it is dung. It is Dioze's Dairy Dung---dung I get from a local dairy that is TOPNOTCH!!
The tek--if you want to call it that---is simple.
It is a recipe that BJ (hey man) gave me that has been spread around and has been very kind to me.
It is a manure based substrate that keeps one from having to cololnize manure(or other substrate) later on to get results--it is one less step and is very helpful for newbies to cut down on the chance of contamination by eliminating the most accident prone step.
I have modified it to my liking. I use 3 parts manure and 1 part vermiculite and a few TBL spoons of BRF, moistened to desired consistency. I innoculated it, left in in the jars @ 70 degrees and waited until they pinned, I then dumped them from the jars and finished as one would do with PF cakes.
Pretty simple.
No, my name has nothing to do with any rap group. It is a hybrid of my wife and I's names.(Dione and Zeb--pronounced dee-oz)
Well, here are the pics.
P.S. Ralph.....Here's the money!!!

Oh Yeah!! there are more pins on the way!!

Congratulation! The shrooms have very nice thick stems and it seems the caps will open wide.

Nice. Did you pre-soak the the vermiculite and how long did you sterilize them for?

I guess I'll comment since I'm probably one of those who should but hasn't

Kick ass.  Way to set 'em straight!

I remember the DD pic, hence my lack of surprise.  In fact, I was a bit of a dick to whoever posted it.  Told him he was full of shit b4 he put it up!  Nontheless, I've never seen another pic of pan sans casing.  Way to go, very nice.  What was the final verdict on what happend to the donkey anyway?  Nobody knows still?  Then what nick is Karl using these days?  Or are those the $50K questions still?

Hello!!!!
I also wondered if it could be done, sometimes my Hawaiian cyans will pin in-vitro. Very nice!!!! I still use the same technique and recipe, though I have tried others to no avail. Everytime I mix the dung after growing the mycelium on BRF and vermiculite, I end up with major green. I would love to see more people have success with the Copelandias, it's only a matter of being able to case successfully. With your results, it may be only a matter of using the PF tek!!!!
