I've been getting pretty desperate with my latest casings, all
haven't pinned I'm guessing from the lack of it's exposure to cold
temps which I don't understand because I cold shocked them for 24
hours, but overlay set in eventually. Tried to deep scratch it and
repeat procedure, OVERLAY AGAIN! So at this point I'm just fed with
other people's teks so I decided to do something I never heard of as follows:
1. Dumped the entire substrate out of the container, it slipped out just like a pf cake. 2. Just look at the picture

So any thoughts? Any chance these baby's fruiting in the chamber?

Flat cakes? Sure I seen it done before =)
However if they are overlayed and matted, you probally wont get a thing.
When you case, put your substrate layer then casing layer. Give it a decent mist, and cover it with foil. Incubate it for 2-4 days, then check it.
Now, if there is myc popping through, you can do one of two things. One, you can take her out and fruit her right then and there, or you can patch it.
Patching is just applying a very thin layer of casing material over the exposed myc. If you do this, make it very thin. Sprinkle it on.
Now, re-incubate for 24 hours, then the next day fruit it.
You shouldnt have anymore problems w/ overlay.

So is overlay really just a rhizomorphic overgrowth, what does it look like exactly?
My own casing layer has alot of white rope like growth that grows outward in a circle, but I can still see some of the dark soil thats mixed into the casing layer. I just started using Hyphae's pinning strategy about 24 hours ago.
