So my fish just died.
Earlier today I cleaned his fish bowl, apparently its not a good idea to fill fish bowls with bottled water, I think thats what did it, there wasn't anything added to the water or anything.... I dunno, either it was the water or maybe he just got all excited that his bowl was finally clean and died.

You killed the life sustaining bacteria in his fish bowl...

Sorry to hear about your loss Gillette. I was devastated when my first fish (Goldie) died.
There are more fish in the sea.
Even though we didn't get a chance to talk, it was really nice meeting you this weekend.

Life sustaining bacteria? There is such a thing as beneficial bacteria, but they are responsible for converting ammonia to nitrite, and then nitrite to nitrate... if its just a fish bowl, then yeah, that's possible, but this isn't going to kill the fish right away... the ammonia levels would have to build up first.
Unless the water was distilled, you'd need to add some sort of water conditioner to remove the harmful chemicals... not sure if bottled water has chlorine in it or not, but that's the main one...
 Peace.

Most bottled water is from municipal sources--basically, that means you're drinking tap water from someone else's supply--and yea, you'd need to condition the water etc. Distilled would be the way to go if you don't have conditioners.
sry to hear about your loss.
