straw logs turning blue following overuse of bleach

Hoping this is not an emergency!
This plastic fruiting chamber was smelling a little funky after placing some colonized straw logs into it. So, a 1:1 bleach:water solution was sprayed along the inside walls, carefully avoiding spraying this solution on the logs. The solution simply ran down the walls to the bottom of the chamber, where it would hopefully destroy any organisms living in the stagnant water that collects there. This was probably stupid!
12 hours later, the logs had turned a subtle blue, probably due to the bleach fumes. Thought it would be okay as long as the bleach didn't make contact with the logs. So, now, what to do? There are still some pools of bleach at the bottom, but those can be soaked up. Are the logs okay? Will they recover? Can anything be done to improve their health? Hopefully the outer layer of mycelium is not permanently dead?

I would soak up the bleach.
1:1 ratio is very, very, strong. I dont really use bleach much but if I remember you should be using something like 1:50 or something of the sort. You dont even use 1:1 ratio when using h2o2!
You might be able to mist down the walls with regular h2o2 mixture(1/10 strength).

Well, to be honest, there's no point in washing the walls of the chamber anymore. This is a much more serious matter!

bleach goves off chlorine gas as it evaporates, it may have affect the mycelium causing it to bruise

1:1 is a pretty strong bleach concentration. i think you would get the same results (killing contams) with 1:5 or even less.

People here seem very prone to just taking wild guesses at proper concentrations. With people quoting a wild range of concentrations noobs think it doesn't matter and they can just throw any combination of things together and it will work. I've seen this happen a ton with LC mixes, but you've really missed the ballpark here with the bleach.
Bleach is used for surface sterilization at a concentration of 1:10 to 1:100. 1:10 to 7% is what is used in labs for sterilizing coutertops and work surfaces. 1:10 is pretty much the standard used in most microbiology textbooks and manuals.
That's for something you are going to wipe up or a small amount that will evaporate quickly. If you are going to leave it on surfaces you need a much lower concentration and if you are going to leave it near something you DON'T want to kill it should be lower still.
Shit, the bleach bottle usually has some directions on it and they never say to use anything close to 1:1. You couldn't use 1:1 for cleaning your bathroom without it hurting your lungs after a minute or two, so I'd say you'll be real lucky if the myc lives.

Okay well -- at least the fruiting chamber is sterilized. The mycelium has not yet recovered, but there are pins developing on some of the affected logs. Looks like things are going to be alright. And the bleach has evaporated. Thanks for the tips on concentration.
