AA930 ruined seal???

The seal on my AA930 apparently has started to leak. Now I've heard of people mention a break-in period, and this doesn't appear to be the case because it used to seal perfectly. I use a hearty amount of Vaseline and check the evenness of the seal in an anal-retentive fashion and make sure the wing nuts are lube and tightened in the most even fashion possible. All things aside there is a fairly major leak in this one spot, after it gets to 5-10 psi it is pouring steam!!! I don't think I did anything that would have damaged the cooker, I followed all precautions and read the manual and searched the forums rigorously before using it. So my question is, did I somehow, unknowingly ruin my AA pressure cooker? I really hope not, because I freaking love this thing!

Can you see what the problem is? Is there a pit or surface imperfection?
I've seen AAs take repeated beatings over years that you just couldn't imagine. I mean being hit with hammers, cooked over propane, weights placed on the steam vent weight, pressure gauge pegged for hours and then boiled dry (repeatedly). So I couldn't imagine what would actually be able to ruin an AA. They have good warranties though don't they?

Try this.
Don't line up the arrow & notch.
Rotate the lid one hold-down & secure it.
Tighten & pressure test.
If that doesn't do it, rotate the lid one hold down the other way.
Tighten & pressure test.
My AA 925 was bought used & is about 30 years old. Never had a problem, NOT ONE.
Well, one. First time I used it. I tightened the lid to tight. I had to use the edge of a meat clever to "pop" it open. That is how tight the seal is, even after 30 years of use.

There is absolute nothing that I can notice that would allow this release of steam (pits, divots, things of this sort) the metal around the beveled edge of the seal is as perfect as the day I took it outta the box, this is whats baffling me. I mean it pressurizes up to 15 no problem. Its just bothering me because I bought the toggle switch so that I could pressure cook bags for hours at a time without worrying about the steam releasing and it boiling dry. I did find a post while searching that said to tighten remove and re tighten the seal until it breaks in, any one think this would remedy the problem? I just cant seem to see what I possibly am doing wrong!?!?

shoulda consolidated this into one post but it just didn't happen So what your saying is rotate the lid so that the notches line up differently? To see if maybe its just the way the lid is sitting in one particular place thats allowing the steam to escape? Well this has been one hectic day to top off one hectic week! so I'm going to smoke a bowl and go relax at the pool for a while thanks for the replies and all the advice! Ill give it another whack when my nerves are calm

If by 'toggle switch' you mean the relief valve, you should be leaving it open until steam has vented for several minutes, then close it. The surfaces of the cooker need to be able to heat evenly for a good seal. RR
