I feel bad for people who starting seriously smoking. I could just never get into it. The only time a really like smoking is when im fucked up.
When im sober = half a pack - a pack a week when im on dex = a pack in two hours, maybe 2 when im high = a pack a day when im drunk = wake up and all my cigs are gone
I just recently smoked my last cig, and even put it out a drag early. I just said to myself "its bad enough that i do all of this other shit"
smoking felt the worst thing i could do for myself. That was 6 days ago. I constantly want one, but dont think that i could bring myself to it. Just makes me sick.
i hope you all can get healthy

I just recently decided to quit again i'm at day 5 no cigarettes so i know how you feel about now my physical symptoms are slacking up now its just the mental battle i have to worry about now.

I have a general question for the people who quit for months and then started agian. WHY? like what made you pick a cigarette up again? After all that time? what made you want to actually smoke, what was so different that time around than any other time you craved one?
I gotta say Newbie, it feels really good to read this post. I guess i quit a day or two after you did. Tracking your progress feels great at 1:30 AM when i really want a cigarette and have zero pot to distract my addiction. I'm on my 4th day and yea i totally feel you. I've been coughing a bit as well. The first two days were the hardest right? Headaches, extreme fits of anger? AH! Those first 2 days are motivation enough for me you know? Cause i know i don't want to smoke forever so the thought of picking up another cigarette and going through that first day again is... horrifying. What i've replaced with ciggies is water. on this 4th day the times i really CRAVE a cigarette is like when i walk out of the door to my house or when i get off the train. I feel like one of Pavlov's dogs... Well good luck. It feels good to know that someone else is on my page. It feels damn good though doesn't it?

i did for about two years when i was 14. around about the time i ran out of breath going up the staris is when i realized i needed to quit. its all a mind game. if you really want to quit, then you can sit right next to a carton of squares and not even flinch. you just have to decide that you are going to quit. of you cant keep a promise to yourself, then how the hell is anyone else gonna trust you?
its really not that hard. i do remember, however, throwing up because of withdrawal...that sucked, but beer helped.;) the besst of luck to you, man.

How did I miss this thread?
I quit 7 & 1/2 weeks ago, right before I got the pupster.
Just used Nicorette inhalers for a day or so, then dumped them too.
It's all a matter of willpower. One-day-at-a-time shit. It gets easier as the Nicotine leaves your body, but the cravings continue anyway because it's such an enjoyable habit.
I just keep telling myself, "I don't do that anymore".
It's nice having my full senses of taste and smell back, but I've gained a little weight too, which sucks, but it's better than smoking.
Good luck, keep up the good work!

I am a chainsmoker and I quit last Saturday. This is day 7.
My friend quit smoking on new years eve. He said the cravings don't stop but it just gets easier to say no to a cigarette. The biggest challenge is when ur drinking. I've quit pot also. I've noticed myself being very on edge and fidgetty.
I'm keen to quit because I don't want to be a smokers statistic.

move to another town, get a job where you can have lunches inside (call center). now your smoking friends are gone, and now you arent tempted on your breaks.
quitting is easy.

in Australia, or Tasmania at least, there is now no smoking in pubs, clubs or restaurants. Now smokers have to go outside to smoke, and a lot of venues are now adding sheltered smoking areas to their premises. This came in on New Years eve at 12:00 (1st of January officially) you should have seen it in the nightclub I was in it was fucking funny EVERYONE was charring down and relishing that last indoor-ciggie and the place was like a fucking gas chamber. Then the cops came in at 12:01 and told all the smokers to move outside.
Soon you cigarettes won't be allowed to smoke cigarettes in public places (malls, on the street etc) and only in the privacy of your own home, then after that they will ban them altogether bringing in a black market on tobacco like they did with alcohol in USA in the 30's. I think it's part of the governments way of slowly waning Australia off cigarettes to make it tobacco-free by 2020.
They're just going to fuck it up, I mean they will ban it in public places for peoples health and whatnot but I think they should think about doing the same with cars because they cause more environmentl damage than cigarettes.
Agreed?

I smoked one tonight, after 2 weeks of not smoking a cig. I fell weak. Oh well. At least I still have my goal in sight. I left the rest of the pack at my friend's house. I paid 3.78 for one cigarette. If that don't make me quit, I don't know what will.

$3.78 for one smoke? That's crazy.

ive paid more
ive been smoking since 16.
sometimes its hard to get a cig when only one store in the city sells to minors and your 30 miles away from it.
I paid a guy outside of a 7-11 20$ just to give me half his pack, because he didnt have a change, and i didnt feel like going inside as i was on alot of drugs
i smoked them all in one night.....
as i read this thread it makes me feel better for what i am doing.
Does anyone else recall (if you have any) your underage smoking days?
wish i wouldve quit back then. It makes it 30X harder when i dont get yelled at by cops and i can just waltz into any store and buy one.

Puritybinge - i agree with everything you said EXCEPT the part of stop hanging out with your friends that smoke and making sure they don't do it around you. I mean part of quitting is realizing that people around you smoke. If anything you should just tell your friends you want to quit and to under no circumstances let them have a cigarette even if you ask for it. sure it's easier to hang out with the friends that don't smoke. but.. again like i said, part of qutting is realizing that other people smoke and you don't, anymore.
Another motivating factor in quitting is i think realizing how gross it is. i mean REALLY looking at the effects and just gross yourself out from doing it anymore.
Blissedout!!! 2 weeks huh? Well you had ONE, but don't let that get you in the head of "well fuck it i had one i already fucked up i might as well smoke more. It doesn't seem like you'll fall into that trap seen as though you left your pack behind. Just keep it going. you had 1 cig in 2 weeks that's progress no matter what, just don't give in, remember how shitty you felt for giving in and remember how great will power is! carry around emergency candy and when the cravings get crazy have a candy.
