Who here has successfully quit smoking?

Honestly...
I'm in the process. My last cigarette was at 5:45am and I've been tweakin' since lol. I really want to do this. I want to join the Y or something and start swimming, and just basically getting into shape.
How long before you stopped fiending? What changes did you notice once you were off the influence of nicotine? Did your lungs get stronger? I'm interested in your stories

I quit cold turkey a little over a year ago. After the first few days the constant nagging addiction goes away. From there, it's just when you get angry or stressed that you think you need one. (or if you have a conditioned time for them... after a meal or sex)
Main thing though is to have an alternate for what you do in a given situation.
If I got a craving for a cigarette I would eat or workout. A snack or a hundred pushups/situps.
After sex = eat/workout
After food = eat/workout
Driving = drink something
Drinking alcohol = cigar
And ofcourse smoking weed helps in any of these situations. I smoke more blunts now then ever.

Yeah I was curious about that too. I was taught to smoke a cig after a bowl/bong/vape/anything... It's going to be nice to be able to enjoy my weed. Actually taste it for once and not worry about killing my lungs with a cig afterward. I'm basically using the pro's to drive me through the con's- if that makes sense. (The worse I feel=the better I feel)

Clean lungs and full breath. You can tell after only a week. That first deep breath after waking up is awesome. Food tastes again. You have more energy.
Smoking has become a turnoff to me now, though. If I see a girl smoking I won't date her.

I've only been smoking for 2 years, but I smoked pretty heavily. I started after 2 life-changing events took place and couldn't stop ever since. I'm past those hard times and I really want to improve my health. I figured dieting and quitting cigs would be the place to start.

Quiting helped me with my diet. Kinda gave it a kick in the ass. Since I used eating as a way to curb my cigarette cravings, I had to start eating better. I ate all the time and had to make sure it was healthier food.
There isn't an inbetween. You'll either quit or you won't quit. So when you get to a spot where you think it'll be o.k. for just one... stop what you are doing and change your state of mind. Run, eat, jerk-off... whatever it takes to change your state of mind. The craving will go with your mind state.

i quit smoking 4 years ago and feel much better now. Cigs are even so harsh now that i can barely smoke them. In the time that i quit i would say ive prolly smoked about 10 cigs, in 4 years. You sound like you really want to quit, so it shouldnt be too hard, wasnt for me, and i smoked half a pack a day for 8 years.

I tried quitting once before, made it 3 days. It was weird before though. I still wanted to smoke...it was still fun, still calmed me down...so I just started again. This time I feel like I have to. That nasty taste when you have too many, running out and being broke, or simply needing to have them with you at all times is getting old fast. I'm 20, and I said by 25 I'd quit...I feel like the time is now. Thanks for the info and advice, I need all I can get lol. I'll keep updating my progress if anyone cares. Someone at work today told me 11 days and you're cool; even when others light up around you. Truth or depends?

It shouldn't bother you but don't push it. Situations like these kind of wake you up to how easily and fast a few moments can slip away. You'll be surprised by your ability to realize at anymoment you have a cigarette in your mouth. I'd always have bad dreams where I was dissappointed in myself for smoking in the dream.
