My local nursery has 40 pound bagos of a cow manure mix for 1.50$ It's a mixture of hummus, peat and cow poo. Has anyone ever used something like this? Or think it will work. Thank you

Cow poo works but it's less efficient then horse poo or straw. The reason is because the cow poo can have a muddy consistency if your water content is off which would inhibit growth. The addition of verm or peat to fluff it up is great, but you must make sure to keep the mixture fluffy and airy to help the mycellium colonize the substrate quickly.

Anyone ever try a WBS, Manure, and Verm cake before?? I just mixed em all up in a bowl, put em in some jars and PC'd them. They look pretty airy and fluffy, not too wet, I have a feeling they'll work great, anyone like to comment on that method?

Didn't get the mix. I called a horse stable today and asked for some poo to for my garden. They were more then happy enough to give me a ton of horse poo and a bail of straw for free.

I have a question. The grocery store I work at sells bags of garden crap. One of them is mushroom compost. Is it good for anything? Or should I stick with the horse crap?

Yep, they do work well... Check out this thread and you can see some of my results and what my mixing ratio was (mine were BRF based, but my results were greatly improved by the addition of WBS and h.poo).

I tried bags of mushroom compost with little luck. The growth was slow. I highly suggest calling your local horse stable and asking for some dung for your garden. When I went today they had massive piles of old dung for the taking. They were more then happy to get rid of it for free, plus they threw in a bail of hay.

Just did this exact mix! with EQ syringe quarts were colonized in about 10 days way ahead of the coffee enhanced PF jars inoc.. with the same syringe, I loved the mix some much I just spawned to more of it now you cant pasteurize it that is the only downfall of using it as a substrate. But if you got bags, your made in the shade!
