PF to PF Transfer?
    #5791826 - 06/26/06 08:38 AM (17 years, 7 months ago)

whats goin on yall, wanted to know if this would work/be a good idea or not. what im plannin to do is put a fourth of a colonized pf cake and a full uninocculated though sterilized(via steam-boiled) into a food processor, then place the powdered cakes into clean jars and then incubate till colonized. im thinkin it would work and prolly pretty fast but is there any reason i wouldnt want to do this maybe? please give me your thoughts.

you can't steam the mycelium ... it will die.

if you were going to do this successfully you would prolly have to use a colonized jar and transfer to a sterile spawn bag with pf substrate inside.

sounds like this would work, be careful about contams during the transfer though..you should consider making a steril box with gloves and all that to ensure cleanliness.

In theory, you are good. In practicality, you will most likely get contams. PF jars take longer to colonize then grains so you risk a higher chance of contam. They only way to accomplish something like this is in a sterile lab. I have accomplished open-air grain-to-grain transfers, but once you add the food processor, I don't think you will stand much chance of success. My suggestion is to switch to grains. They are really not any more complicated.
