Anyone Like Death Metal?

I wouldn't expect alot of fellow shroomerys to listen to alot of Death Metal but, you never know so I thought I would ask. If you do name off some band recomendations.
Here are a few of my fav's.
Dying Fetus Skinless Aborted Disconformity Mucopus Emeth
Also anyone ever listen to metal when they trip? I usually can't. Gives me anxiety. With the execption of White Zombies La Sexorcisto. That album was made for tripping

Yeah I expected to hear alot of that. Have you ever listend to a Dying Fetus album though? Throw in Destroy The Opposition and tell me you can't give those guys respect for how they can play thier instruments.
I'm sure most of you think of Death as a bunch of racket but if you sit and listen to the really good bands you would be suprised how hard it is to even think of playing one of thier songs.

I love all music and can go from listening to Mushroom Jazz to some crazy full on death. Everyone always thinks its strange that I can find the good in something that wild.
I can to the cd store and pick up some MOE, Medeski Martin and Wood, B.B. King, Atmosphere, Dying Fetus, and, a Pink Flyod album and get the wildest looks

If you like Stoner rock you should deff give them a spin. Great Band here is a little info on em.
"The best band I saw [at SXSW 2005] was called THE SWORD, this metal band from Austin. They're sort of like BLACK SABBATH Vol. 4, sort of like early PRONG, sort of like IRON MAIDEN...like a bunch of bison being pushed over a cliff." - SPIN
Conceived in Austin, TX in 2003, THE SWORD took the form of a cohesive quartet in early 2004 when guitarist / singer J.D. Cronise, guitarist Kyle Shutt, bassist Bryan Richie, and drummer Trivett Wingo joined forces. Inspired by such legendary names as SLEEP, SLAYER and THE MELVINS, the four-piece immediately began to construct the songs that would soon comprise their initial demo recording.

I've had a lot of friends into Death Metal. Bands such as Cannibal Corpse and Six Feet Under. It's not really my preferred music genre.
EToS (Eternal Tears of Sorrow) are very good but I don't know if you'd consider them "Death Metal"?

Never heard Of EToS. I wil check them out. I don't really like cannibal corpse but I do like Six Feet Under. I'm very pick about my death metal. Very few bands are worth listening to. Like I said though I love all music and will give alot of bands a try before I say not my thing.

Sunn O))) are good, especially their first few efforts, but some of it, some of the newer stuff mostly, just bores the shit out of me. I think they went too far on their most recent stuff as far as slowing stuff down or getting down to extreme basics etc.

As The Sun Sets Cattle Decapitation Circle of Dead Children Goratory Damaged (might be more grind) Holymarsh (from South Korea) In Flames (not death metal, but amazing anyways) Suffocation Vehemence Arsis In Slumber

Damaged is nearly impossible to find - they're from Australia, and I think they broke up a while ago, but their album "Token Remedies Research" is incredible. If you want me to send you some, let me know!

Whoever said Vintersorg kicks ass, although I'm not sure he's not death metal in the traditional sense.
Borknagar rules all, but its more black metal, but then, its not black metal in the traditional sense, either, not at all.
 Peace.

listen to Behemoth.
im more into black metal though, check out: Burzum Emperor Naglfar Dissection Immortal Satyricon Ulver
for people who like doom/sludge, and for people who like music period, check out Agalloch. very nature aestheicly oriented band.
Agalloch - Pale Folklore - great album, primitive style, post rock/black metal/ neo folk
Agalloch - The Mantle - More mature, very atmospheric.
Agalloch - Ashes against the grain - Differnt than first 2, will probly apeal to the most amount of people on this board.

Yep those mayhem guys are pretty crazy. I belive a few years later the gutiarist killed the new singer to prove he was more hardcore than him and is now in jail. Or it might have been the other way around. Alos the members of the band made necklaces out of the dead singers skull fragments

Dying Fetus is pretty good
Death is the ultimate be all end all of death metal. Hell.. they invented the genre.
If you haven't heard Death yet (shame on you) go and get the following albums- The Sound of Perseverence, Human, Indivudual Thought Patterns, Symbolic.
Some other honorable mentions
Morbid Angel Obituary Borknagar Agalloch Carcass Lamb of God Nile Old Man's Child Psycroptic Deicide Spawn of Possession Vital Remains Decapitated Dimension Zero
Gumby - Slayer, Pantera, Sepultura, and Vision of Disorder as usually classified as "thrash" metal, or power metal. Some bands sort of cross genres, as the early sepultura albums were sort of thrash/speed/death metal.

erm.. i get the pun, but the correct term is "black metal"
and the guitarist(varg, also known for his solo project BURZUM) did not kill euronymous because he thought he was more "hardcore". varg knew euronymous had intentions to kill him(he had tried before). varg went to his apartment to give him a contract anyways.. euronymous, being the idiot he was, tried to kill varg then and there. varg had a knife, and jammed it in euronymous' skull. nothing more than an idiot who couldnt kill before he got killed.
