RTV is a type of gasket-sealing putty you can buy at any home hardware store. It cures at room temperature, hence the name. No self-respecting shroomer doesn't have a tube of this lying around. =)

The cheapest of cheap RTV handles temperatures to 420 degrees F. High temp RTV can go above 600 degrees. Either will not be even be phased by the pressure cooker. Hermit crab sand I do not have a clue about. I'm a hermit, and I'm crabby, but as far as I know, sand is only for cats to piss on.

As far as the hermit crab sand goes , you say it has magnesium carbonate in it . Don't know how much magnesium it has , but anything over 2% isn't good for mycelium.

If I understand it properly -- and it's entirely possible I don't -- both will withstand a PCing but the RTV will cure faster and stand up to syringe penetration much better.
