First Time Casing
    #578615 - 03/14/02 11:33 AM (19 years, 8 months ago)

Hey, I know nothing about casing. I've read the Sea Shroom Tek and I'm goin go use this one. However, I'm not sure how to deal with the perlite on the bottom. Do I just stick the casin on top of the perlite???? If so then I'm all set. I have 4 cakes ready to be cased right now. I"m making one into corn cob slurry and i'm gonna case that and see how that works. The other 3 I'm goin to just case. Please let me know if this is ok and if i just put the casing on the perlite.
Thanks so much

Putting the casing on the perlite right after birth is fine. However once you have initiated pins, I'd put the casing in a seperate terranium with No Perlite. Then just spray the sides of the terranium and fan.

i leave my casings in the terraRium with perlite in it all the time. having excess humidity in the terraRium does not seem to be a problem; much less a problem than too low humidity.
just make sure your terraRium is humid; you can do it with or without perlite; but its much easier with it.

I believe that too much humidity (95%+) once pinns are induced will create alot of abhorts.. For a casing (once pinns are induced) should be lowered to like 87% becasue the casing itself will produce its own humidity?..

Anno?, Bluhoney?. .
