Fingerprinting

For the past few summers I have worked at a University just doing some basic housekeeping/manual labor, but as part of the University employment requirements you must get your fingerprints taken down at the local sheriff's department. Now I have complied with this all three summers, but a friend who recently joined me working this summer has become really sketched about the police having his fingerprints. He isn't even a dealer, just a user. I told him it probably wouldn't matter unless he is involved in some high class bank robbery or something like that, but it sort of got me thinking. I guess I am already way screwed because I have given them my fingerprints 3 years in a row, but what does this mean for me? Should I be worried that my fingerprints are now on file? As a recreational drug user, (not a dealer) does this present any threat to me?

i'd consider my level of paranoia to be somewhere near a 6-7 on a scale of 1-10 and even i wouldn't worry about this. especially if you aren't even dealing anything

Hehe my level is probably about the same or higher. I know its not a problem now but what about in the future? When I get my own place I would like to try growing a few things that "the man" would not be fond of.

Like everyone said, You just can't get away with any more burglaries or bank robberies...
You can grow or deal all the drugs you want though..

So let say you are dealing drugs. You have your prints on file. You forget to use some gloves while bagging your product.
It gets into the hands of cops. Aren't they going to dust for prints on the package?
I have never personally read anywhere that they have gone to this length to dust for prints, does anyone know? This would be a way they could catch you.

How many times have you seen them dusting a bag of drugs with a feather on cops?

a guy I worked with served 4 years because they refused to print a bag found in his car, the cops response was that they dont do it unless it's armed robery or murder, his lawyer verified it, when my cab was recovered avter being stolen there was no evidence that they'd fingerprinted anything in the drivers reach

if you know that you have to give fingerprints in advance, you should spend some days before enjoying some pineapple juice...

Don't worry about it. They won't put you into the system. If something comes up missing at the University ya you can expect them to use them. Don't take anything and your okay.

nope
there are enzymes in pineapple juice that are effective at breaking down human fingerprints
it's a confirmed nugget of urban wisdom that people who work harvesting or preparing pineapple often don't have fingerprints due to their contact with its juices
it's not terribly good for your skin, but soaking your fingers in whole pineapple juice every night will be effective at temporarily (and relatively harmlessly) erasing your fingerprints
I believe the enzyme group is called bromelain and is also used commercially to tenderise meat (which gives some idea of both how effective it is at breaking down tissue and also how damaging it can be to human skin if over-used)

what about if your prints are scanned for getting a driver's license.....
do police have access? i used to be paranoid about this when i was a user. afraid to throw any empty baggies away because somehow in an eblaborate delusion the cops could be watching my trash because i "look" like a drug user then they find a bag and dust for prints and match it up in the DMV database......
paranoia eh!

Unless you're in a murder, or something very serious, no one will bother with fingerprints. They cost too much money, plain and simple. So unless he plans on poppin caps (not the mushroom kind), he should be just fine.

Like Meat_Log_Smurf said they don't put your prints on file when you have to voluntarily give them like for a driver's license or for working at the university. They can only add them to the criminal database if they were obtained during a criminal arrest. The fingerprint at the DMV is to keep people from sending their friends and younger siblings up there with their birth certificate to get a real ID for underage drinking and the like.
