Last Wensday, i got so stoned i thought i was crazy, and had a terrible anxiety, paranoia attack that took almost three days to recover from; but that is not why I'm posting this. I was looking around in my parents attic at a good book that would hopefully relax me until i considered myself sane, and i came across (coincidentally or not) THE MAN WHO MISTOOK HIS WIFE FOR A HAT, by OLIVER SACKS. If you have never read it i recommend it to anyone who visits this site The book is a compilation of stories that Sacks (who is a neroscientist) wrote describing some of the most strange and bizarre mental illness, NOT retardation, but normal people who undergo unimaginable disabilities due to tumors, strokes and other brain changing problems. The most interesting point that he unconsciously makes is that the people are everyday people who just have an additional or lack of something, but still maintain an average or in many cases above average intelligence. The book got me thinking, what really is "crazy?" When boiled down we are all different people trying to compare ourselves to the same unimaginable, unrealistic state/person. Who is this person, GOD, some ancestral being that we all are related too? Why must we try to be like this image of "sane" and not like ourselves?

god is crazy as all hell, i mean shit he created us
but no seriously, he did, and i always tell people that my mental 'illness' (ie. Skitzo Affective disorder) is a byproduct of my mental 'capacity' (ie. my intelligence)
but honestly most people dont understand what is really happening about half of the time people are diagnosed with a mental illness, most simply have extra dimensions bleeding through to their usual senses, like their sixth sense is enhanced to sometimes scary levels
like the skitzophreniac that sees the angelic and demonic side to people
anyway sry to rant ive gone through some shit that just pisses me off because they dont understand what i went through, they only want to tell me i have a problem and they wont accept what was happening to me was more real than they can imagine.
ne way just my ranting self
peace

There's a link in the first post of page 2 of the Time Dilation thread to an Itzhak Bentov film in which he postulates that the 'mentally unsound' are, by and large, simply in possesion of a more evolved nervous system and the reason they seem crazy is because they are reacting to stimuli beyond the comprehension of most people.
