double casing tek?

does anyone think a double casing tek would have any substantial benefit? for example, you case then when the mycelium begins to show, add an additional layer of casing material - or - after the initial case you could add another layer of verm, crumbled cake, and casing. The benefits could be an even longer lasting production of mushrooms. or ?

as i understand it the casing layer is there to provide a micro environment preferable to pinning. it supplies a nice humid environment for the top of the substrate layer. just the top. any casing below the top layer would just give the myc extra shit to fight through to get to the top for pinning. patching is a tek used that uses extra casing once you see uneven myc growth, and that is just to get an even layer. the casing dose not help the mushrooms grow, just stay moist for pinning. look into teks using the poos, cocos, and straws if you want to layer your cakes in stuff to get better shrooms
if im off on this i hope someone puts me in my place. after all im just a newbie

I did this by accident my first couple of casings, thinking that normal mycellium poking through was "overlay" so i put another casing layer on it and incubated it... didnt notice any difference but time wasted...

Well, there is a tek that we often use called patching. Which is applying a thin layer of casing material over the initial myc that pops through.
However layering it as casing/sub/casing/sub/casing would be a little pointless.
If you want to do something along those lines, you can try adding field capacity verm to your substrate(WBS, Rye). This will help give it moisture for a bigger flush.

This is not beneficial at all and will only screw up your initiation timing, if anything just use a slightly thicker casing. Understand thicker casings sustain more flushes better so depending on how thick your substrate (nutes) is a slightly thicker casing layer can be beneficial but to double case that would just be a waste of time. Also once in the FC myc (vegetative) growth slows considerably during it's transition to a generative mode. Thicker casings also require a slightly longer incubation period to get your pin initiation spot on. GL
