I have heard that old spores can take a while to germinate, but I haven't heard anything relating them to pinning. What strain/race are you using, what is the temperature and humditiy in the terrarium, how much and what kind of light are the cakes getting, how much air exchange are the cakes getting?

Maybe give this a try:
--When the cake is 100% colonized on the outside, give it another 4-7 days to ensure the center is 100% also. Then take the cake out of the incubater (Still inside the jar) and just make sure it is exposed to light. Doing this you should get pins in a matter of days (I atleast do). Then birth it. Your are guaranteed pins then!

I keep the terrarium about room temp, which is maybe 75 degrees. I don't keep track of the humidity by guage. I can tell you that the glass at the top of the terrarium is fogged up from the humidity.
I have a flourescent light that I put on top of the terrarium for about 6 hours a day. Now I have resorted to keeping the cake in the jar, but putting them in the window to get light before I birth the cake. I'm still experimenting with that.
