Mowing the lawn today...

Sorry, I'm new to this forum. I just found a couple of interesting-looking species while mowing today. Please have a look, any ideas? Nothing critical, I'm just interested.

These have a tangerine red/yellow cap, what looks like a yellow polypore underside, and they bruise a bit when picked (not blue blue, but, sort of greenish-blue).
And these reminded me of oysters the way they flute out:

Both of these species were growing out of the ground (as far as I could tell, it was general "soil", no woody substrate available).
I live in the midwest, if that helps.
Anyway, I'd be interested if anyone had any insights.
Thanks!

The first one is a bolete, and at a quick glance looks like they're from the genus Boletus. The blue staining is a bad sign for those, as many of the poisonous species bruise blue.
The others are, as MeadMadeMe thought, chanterelles. Those are choice edibles that lots of people pay pretty good money to buy in a store. Notice the way the "gills" fork as they near the edges of the caps. They also usually have a pleasant fruitlike odor somewhat like apricots. Cook those up and enjoy!
Happy mushrooming!

Nice, probably some of the first Chanterelle finds this year The season down here will really take off in about a month. We had a KILLER rain today, first rain in like 3 weeks, so let's keep this rain rolling for another killer chanterelle season

Anyone ever tried cloning this species from finds and cultivating them? I need to get out GGMM, methinks.

Chanterelles are mycorrhizal, so you're unlikely to have much success with cultivation.
Having said that, try anyway. If everybody listened when people said things couldn't be done, lots of things that are in everyday use now would never have been invented.

They've been trying forever with failure but who ever does will be a very rich shroomer.....hey they finally figured out the Morel puzzle but those arent cultivated mycorhizally

We started pulling them in the end of last year and Chanterelles just ended here fairly recently couple months back.....but of coarse were on a little different shroom season schedule.....
This year was exceptional for us for some reason....popping everywhere ! Everything else sucked.

Chanterelles show up every year in Georgia around August/Sept in full force

You can soak them in water for a short duration. This will turn the water orange, but will also put tons of spores into the water. Then go dump the water on a place it can attach to some tree roots or other decaying forest matter, and water it in droughts, your own chanterelle patch. Same for Morels almos

I don't understand...these seemed to be growing out of soil. But, I wasn't paying a hell of a lot of attention--I was more concerned with mowing the f'ing lawn. Also found a stick that was covered in what appeared to be mycelium--I saved that and will mist it and see what happens.

Yes, Chanterelles grow off of wood, but that does not rule out the chance of them popping out from the ground, as underneath the soil, there could be some roots or buried wood that the mycellium grew off of and the mushrooms simply surfaced, appearing as though they are soil dwelling.

Thanks!
Now I'm interested in doing what flowie suggested--soaking these fruits to get the spores out, then inoculating an outdoor woodchip/straw bed with the run-off.
Hmmm....
