Anyone have any ideas of a good way to put weight on, besides just eating more.
I eat 3 meals a day but if anything I'm losing weight. Ive always been skinny and my metabolism is very fast.
I tried very hard once, i was eating up to 6 meals a day ( plus snacks ) and in half a year i managed to put on half a stone. It was an effort. Once i'd stopped it took about a month to lose it all again, and thats with eating normally.
Is there anyway to slow my metabolism down abit ?
Bit about me :
I'm 23, weight about 10 stone. I'm just over 6 foot in height. I smoke weed daily ( thats the prob you say but most of my stoner mates are normal sized ) I smoke tobacco, and drink regularly.
Anyone have any ideas about what i could do besides shoveling 6 meals down my throat everyday ?
Thanks

slow metabolism down by eating large meals only 3 times a day. Once you start eating 5-7 meals a day metabolism goes up and stops your body from storing.
Also you wanna eat heavy meals such as potatoes, meats (reds), bananas, etc. etc.

I see. No wonder i lost my extra weight so fast, thats something i didn't know.
So 3 big meals a day is probably better than eating 6, in the long run.
That does make sense to me, thanks

With that I am always snacking, always always. Not snack foods either. Stuff like grapenuts, oatmeal, etc..
as of now im too poor to gain the weight I want, but hopefully when mcdonalds starts fucking working me ill be ready to excell

Buy a flat of tuna, a few kilos of steal cut oat grouts (cheap as fuck) a few pounds lean ground beef and start eating. I'd probably still eat 4-5 meals a day because only three and trying to gain weight is just grueling lol. I know it slows the metabolism down but if you feel like you're going to puke all the time, they things aren't working out.
Steal cut oats are something that lots of people take because it's just oats. Rolled oats are steamed, rolled, steamed and rolled again so obviously it loses nutritional value. Steal cut are just oats cut up a little... come usually from Ireland afaik, really clean waters... has fiber, calories, low GI carbs that stick with you all day and don't spike insulin. It's a great addition to anyone's diet that's looking to bulk because it's a clean food that you can eat until you explode. I grind them and put them in protein shakes. Just bought some last week.
Plain oatmeal packets are decent too. People disregard them alot but hey, not all of them have a ton of sugar, there's still fiber and all you need is hot water. I'm always walking around work with a packet of them and it helped me gain some weight that I lost after being sick.
Bein a hard gainer is just that, tough as nails. I'm fighting the good fight right now and trying to put on a little more muscle mass. Can't gain weight unless you eat... it's tough. Stick in there.
I would also recommend picking up some cottage cheese. Might sound gross but you can put some apple slices in half a cup, some cinnamon or whatever floats your boat and it's full of casein protein. Really good protein that digests very slowly, you want this stuff at night. Also do the opposite of what everyone else does, EAT AT NIGHT... mmm. I love trying to gain weight. Eat a nice snack before bed and if you wake up, slam a glass of milk.... yeah, getting into some dirty tactics here, but you draw the line on how healthy you're gonna go. I would say just watch the sodium and trans fats, etc and you should be fine.
I have no medical background or anything, don't want to recommend something unhealthy so anyone can feel free to correct me. I bulked eating tinkies and chocolate milk. It took a week to put on a pound and it was blood, sweat and tears.

I'm in the same boat, but I've pretty much given up on gaining any; just trying to keep it on.
I eat peanut butter, bananas, potatoes, apples, all sorts of vegetables, mushrooms, lots of bread/grain, etc... and I don't gain weight. I usually try to eat a decent amount of food before sleeping so it sits there, but that doesn't work. I've had to cut back on dairy almost completely, unfortunately, because of my stomach so I lose a lot of potential fattening there.
In 30 years or so, though, I'll weigh about 175-180. Good luck my friend.

I also need to gain some weight. I look like a survivor of the holocaust or something. I'm 6'0 135 lbs. I eat as much as possible and work out occasionally. I have little to zero muscle. I think I'm going to buy some weight gain shakes that have some good consumer reviews or something. Right now I am so skinny I am scared to even take off my shirt at the beach with friends.

After buying a shitload of 10lb tubs and THEN doing research on gainers, I would say that they're all bullshit.
One serving is usually 2-4 scoops, and one bucket's like 20 servings. FUCK that. It's just shitty, cheap protein, potassium and some sort of sugar. Read the labels and look at the price, is it really worth it? HELL NO.
The best gainer, imo is just a good protein (such as Optimum Nutrition, tastes good, cheap and quality), milk and steel cut oats. You can feel free to add sugar to it, but I like dextrose or maltodexterin the best. I don't really need to add sugar to mine but yeah... if you want a serious gainer, just spend the money on a decent protein and make your own. I shredded a few cups of oats and left them in a tupperware container so I can make a shake anytime I want.
Because my ass just got up, I'm drinking water and whey protein isolate to get the good stuff back in my system after a long sleep. Don't neglect sleep. And try working out using compound lifts like bench press, squats, military presses and deadlifts. Because of the high amount of muscle fibers that need to be recruited, it will shock your body and create an anabolic response. Your body basically thinks 'woah what the fuck?' and needs to grow. Your body will release more growth hormones at night and this is when you can capitalize on gaining weight. If you don't, you'll just burn off the excess calories and go no where. You need some momentum before the REAL weight gain comes.
I'm still only about 160lbs because I hit just over 165lbs and got really sick, lost 15lbs of more than just water weight which sucked.... not going to bulk now, but at the end of summer I will get up to a good 180lbs as clean as possible and try maintaining less than 15% bf. I'll even post a log here if anyone's interested. I think I pretty much found the key for gaining weight, at least for myself. And I have no problems trying to help another skinny brother. We gotta stick together lol
But yeah, gaining is fun when it's successful. Do NOTTTTTT slip into catabolism, which happens when you don't eat for a few hours. Because of our fast metabolisms, I would say don't go more than 4-5 hours without putting something in your body. If you're scared and want to eat only a few meals a day, realize that your body can and probably will get more efficient from this routine. Spice things up every now and again. It's HARRRRD to get your body to grow when you've spent your whole life being skinny. Just add a couple hundred callories to your average caloric intake and mix things up here and there.
