Months ago, i had made a couple spore prints, and placed them in a sterilized plastic ziplock bad and placed them in the fridge. Well, my fridge went out and i lost all my food. called for service he fixed it, then it broke again. The last time it broke it was turned off and there was no coldness left. well, after he fixed it i was like wait a sec, no way i forgot that the prints were in the fridge this whole time... do you think there bad now?

really...so keeping them in the cold doesnt matter then? i thought we had to keep them cold for some reason dont know why i thought that... i was just concerned cause they went from being in the fridge cold for months now. and then all of a sudden just regular room temp for the last couple weeks. thought they may have gone bad.. the other question is at the time of making the prints it was my first time so i was as sterile i could be... how easy do prints become contamed or is the only way for them to be contamed is during the syringe making?

personal experience, spore print on aluminum folded at the edges, put in a ziplock, and placed in a book, viable after a year at normal room temp. temperature changes wont matter either. dehydrated spores are the long term movement vessel for the mushroom, even in nature it could last for years and be viable.
as for contaminated prints, its usually when the print is made and when its initially stored thats going to be the biggest factor of contamination. of course it could later become contaminated while making a print and having it exposed to open air. but in my experience once again, i havent always been the most sterile, and ive had prints that have made 7 different syringes out of it, at different times throughout the year, and none of the liquid cultures of that ever contaminated, at least to the point where i could trace the batch of jars back to the syringe/culture. of course proper sterilization was done on the things needed, i.e. needles, print paper before printing, shot glass, etc. just not much done in terms of cleaning up myself or the house beforehand.
hope this helps
