Ultrasonic Air Exchange
    #577710 - 03/13/02 08:11 AM (22 years, 1 month ago)

AFOF recently purchesed a ultrasonic humidifier and riged it with a valve setup going to 1/2 in plastic lines. There is 2 fruiting chambers (2 lines going to each)
The casing trays are going to be raised about 3 in. off the bottom with some plastic caged cieling tiles

Should there be holes in the bottom for adiquate air exchange?
Would adiquate exchange be possible with the humidifier alone, or is an air pump needed?
How big should the holes be?
Would silk screen be enough to keep out contams, or should filter disks be used?

Help quickly, cakes are ready...

You need to add the air exchange. Ultrasonics can over humidify a casing VERY quick from my friends experience. If your using holes, try this: Go to the store and buy a hepa filter that fits in your air filter in your house. Lowes has them for about 12 bucks. Not the ones that go in a hepa cleaner(round mostly), but the ones your parents change every winter in the heating duct. Punch a few holes into the sides of the growing chamber and tape the filter on real good. Now several times a day, turn a small fan on blowing into the filter. The air crosses through the filter and cleans itsself and when it reaches the casings its clean. Make sure to have your ultrasonic running when your fanning them.:)bluhoney
