ending repeat noob posts in the Cult forum

ok, we get the same questions DAILY...
we all know them.
what happens when we see em?
the people get flamed, and the mods lock it ( goooo mods!) , and they get lost in the pile of dead posts.
well this is sort of cutting our hands off to save our arms ( or some other stupid comparison lol )
the problem is:
the post is lost in the pile ( sometimes within hours) , soooo the next newbie doesn't read it, and repeats the SAME question
if they are to lazy to read the faqs, what makes us think they are going to scroll back 2 or three pages of posts...
what we need is a read only sub forum....... sort of a garbage bin type forum, that all of the post that are just plain simple and could have been easily answered in the FAQ, or shows the user hasn't done their homework etc etc etc.
this way the next newbie can not only see the responses and answers the offending post had, BUT also see the flames and people telling the first poster to read the faq, do more homework etc.
this would not take any modding as its read only
lol I'm not trying to get a new forum i may have the chance to mod in ..anno made it clear a few years back, that that wont happen in this life time , when he said " not in this lifetime" lmao
plus it would show the newbie what is expected of them and acceptable on the boards, it would also cut down on "read the faq, click lock"
This is just an idea, but i thought about it all day yesterday, and i believe it will work.

I second that. Sounds like a really good idea that I never even would have thought of.

thanks for the support FF.. i was visiting a non-drug site im a member of, and after i checked the thread i was following, i went straight to their garbage bin.. this got me thinking.
people love to see bad things ( as long as it isnt happening to them ) kind of the "looking at a car accident" mentality...
so even though they are to lazy to read the FAQ's, or do a search they WILL read the cultivation garbage bin..
even if only to see who is being bad, and what is being said...
but no matter what the reason they are looking at the bin, they will be getting the message

I don't get it: Why would they read THAT if they don't care to read the FAQ?

IMO such a forum could/would make the newbies believe that this is the communication level that is desired on these boards, which is quite the opposite of what we want them to behave.
The splash screen is active again from today on, let's see if it has any positive effect.

Or how about they are not allowed to post unless they click a button on each FAQ page verifying they have read the page. Maybe they won't read them, and they'll just click the buttons. But if it is truly a stupid question they will run into the answer when skipping through the FAQs.

I think splitting the mush cult would help,
one for newbies, then all the redundant questions can be asked,
And the good post wont get lost, if there was two,

And what exactly will make the newbies post their redundant questions in that one forum? And who is going to answer the redundant questions in that one forum?

I dont think that should be a concern, I for one,
And may others, we like helping when we can, I dont think that forum will die, there are many people that would help out,
It just a matter of clutter, I dont think it will be the blind leading the blind,
We're here to learn and share information,

Why not.. just take, say, oh.. three minutes? tops? and answer their question?
Nobody was ever a noob before?
And if they're so simple and redundant, why can't you just fucking answer them? Maybe.. oh I dunno.. provide a link to the FAQ to which you're referring?
Or, god forbid, a simple hyperlink?
You know.. being a productive, helpful member of the community?
Idk about you guys but when I was a total noob I felt like the biggest fool imaginable when I got flamed. Anno just linked me to the FAQ and that was it.

I should start helpin out more in the mush cult section... I'm a slacker... I definitely appreciated help in the beginning but to be honest I never made the newb mistakes.. but then again I read the mmgg and pf tek when I was in the 8th grade so I had a pretty good idea of how it worked before I ever became a member here
its funny cause I would get teased on occasion in hs for being so interested in drugs and reading on the internet...it was relatively new at that point(the internet) and most ppl thought I was getting bogus info I guess...but still to this day most of the shit I tried to tell them was 100% correct and now a days ppl flock to me for info/shrooms etc :P...and I learned at young age how to teach myself and use the internet so jokes on them! HAHAHA

The cult forum should be split just because of the volume of posts. Plus there is a world of difference between the first grow and everything after. There are a lot of forums here, and quite a few of them have little or nothing to do with mushies, yet there are only two cultivation forums (not counting edibles). I'm sure there would still be people willing to help the noobs, for a lot of people that's why they're here.
I also think the garbage bin is still a good idea. Maybe garbage bin isn't the best way to describe it though. Could be called "read the FAQ" or something like that. Just tack a link to the FAQ on each question and move it to the "repeatedly answered questions" bin or whatever you want to call it. It would only be for those VERY frequently asked questions that have clear answers.

or how about this.
Everyone with under 200 posts has all there "posts" displayed in green color on the forum listings.
everyone with 1000 has yellow posts
everyone with over that gets red.
that way nomatter where a person is posting you know before you click on the thread a gerneral idea what your gunna see.
But also the faqs and all that guide stuff needs reworked because its very hard to navagate at first and find where stuff is at in it.

How exactly is it hard to navigate?
