Cummulative Organ Damage

In recent times since mushrooms have become much more available to me, I have started taking them much more frequently (5-9 times a month). As my frequency of consumption has increased, so have my worries of "what if the mushrooms are causing damage to my body." I haven't felt any worse since I started taking them more often, aside from a tightness I sometimes feel in my lower chest right above my stomache while I am actually tripping. Does anyone know what causes this tightness? Does anyone know if mushrooms (psilocybe cubensis) cause any kinds cumulative damage to any of the body's organs (perhaps the liver, kidneys or brain), or are they truely the magial wonder-drug they seem to be, leaving you with absolutely no ill effects or cumulative damage?

There are myths / rumors that excessive use causes premature aging. I will try to find the reference. No ill effects? I definitely get a mushroom hangover - wiped out, headaches, lethargy... I do not believe that there is any organ toxicity, but you may overstimulate your serotonin receptors (pardon me if I got that technically wrong, but your brain chemistry is quite delicate). Are you able to trip 9 times a month without increasing the dosage? That would be impossible for me. Two weeks at the minimum for me, though I actually only journey a few times per year. Please note the lack of elder statesmen on this board ( I am 46). One of the primary reasons is due to burnout. People like yourself get all excited about exploring this new world and then quit because they: A. Have a major freakout B: Do something stupid while tripping C: Get bored, because the thrill is gone. There are other reasons why people drift away, but they are not related to frequency of usage (family resposibility, fear of legal reprisal, etc.) Pace yourself and you can have an ally for life.

I also notice a sharpish pain just above my stomach. More precisely, it is about 3 inches under my left nipple. I have been told that it might just be pluridious (sure spelling is not correct on this one!). Anybody else? Jason
