quick question...when am i prepared for fruiting....as soon as all the mycelium covers the cake....and vermiculite on the top layer, i mean the whole thing needs to be mycelium?

It needs to be 100% colonized--mycelium over the entire visible surface of the jar. Then wait a couple more days before birth just so the inside of the cake is definitely colonized. Then you can dunk for 24 hours or go straight to the FC. Pinning should occur about a week into the FC, but it could take a little longer. If you don't already know, read up on double-end casing and rolling in vermiculite. GL.

you'll get some long threads of myc reaching up into the vermiculite layer on top, but it won't colonize the verm layer, there's no food there. everything beneath the verm layer needs to be 100%.
