Earle is a mycologist of sorts I believe. Spores and Magic carries a couple of strains from Earle. I believe the strain which bears his name though is also known as "matchsticks". Long, skinny shrooms. Aparently a prolific fruiter judging by pics I've seen. Spores and Magic likes to distribute spore swabs, especially for the more sterile strains like the Penis Envy, which they also have in swab form. So my guess with somewhat limited knowledge is that it is the matchsticks strain. Deffinately post pics or at least reports, and maybe even spread some prints to the vendors and The FSR. I'm going out on a big limb now, but I think that S&M is also in the Seatle area, perhaps they used to be known as Rain Magic? Or perhaps they just have a connection to Earle. I'm no expert at this, MJ is the man to talk to. If he shows up here, he'll set us all straight, especially since he's in that area. If he doesn't show up, email him and ask him to post here. Might as well have the answer from him on a board, rather than in an email. No telling about that amazonian. The amazon is a big place, and could be several well known strains, or a more obscure one. But while I'm chasing the Spores and Magic connection, they also have an amazonian. If I'm not mistaken, it's the same strain as the penis envy. Amazonian being the name, penis envy being the nickname. I'll have to consult my old catalog of theirs to be sure, I havn't read it in years. But if this amazonian is in spore swab form, I'd say it's a good bet that it's the penis envy. If any of what I said bears any resemblance to being correct, sounds like you've got a hell of nice little time capsule there. I'd like to think that with some effort, that old penis envy (if thats what it is) could hold some potential for improving (better restoring) that strain. Isolate all the strains out of it that you can, and see if you can't get some spores. Keep us updated, old prints are always of great interest to me, genetic diversity being lost as fast as it is....

I just looked at my profile and realized I had a website at one point in time on geocities, it's not there anymore and I have no idea what I had on it. Anybody remember my website from several years aga? PM if so please.

thanx.. Earle was one of those early guys who got the right to stick his name on it.. may have been the Cuban variety ..got it somewhere in the books of time... I know someone is still the old Rain folks..with the same swab-o-spore... hey...still got this strain going if you see this ??? but maybe it will get going...don't yet know the range of spore life.... got heirloom tomato seed from the mid 1980's which still have good germination rates..but... will stay in touch in here ...and the floor..
