CPU fans...

The temperature in my fruiting chamber is around 83-84 F. I was thinking of using CPU fans. Is it necessary to use a computer power supply in order to use the fans? Kind of afraid to wire the fans up to plugs and popping them into a plug outlet.

How do you plan on using the fan? Like where are you going to put it, inside the FC?

yeah i'm waiting patiently before i go and start some wrong method haha
Maybe I should place the fans opposite? So that the fan blowing in the fruiting chamber will "churn" the humidity at top while air exits through the bottom.

Using a fan like that would take every bit of humidity out of your FC in about 5 seconds.

Ya but with a constant removing of the air inside your FC that wont do anything for humidity. Think of the humitity inside your FC as a smoke bomb let off inside it. Think about putting a fan blowing in on one end and one blowing out on the other. This would clear the smoke out of the FC VERY quickly. I dont think the Ultrasonic will be able to keep up in the least.

I had concern with keeping the humidity. Shall I just go about putting cups of ice in there?

DON'T plug the wires coming from the fan in the wall. Check the voltage and amperage on the fan first. Mine was like 9V 500mA, thats most small adaptors. You can see by the diameter of the wires coming from the fan that it is not made to be plugged into so much tension.

that probably wouldnt be your best bet. Fruiting at 83-84 shouldnt be that big of a problem at all if all your other factors are there. A cold shock might be very beneficial if your not doing a bulk grow. check the forum right below this one "fruiting in the heat"

hmmm...I apologize for not being specific.
I am currently using a martha stewart greenhouse whatchamacallit. I am doing bulk. Right now there is 7 trays wanting (i'm hoping) to fruit.

adding those fans is a bad idea, especially if youre trying to lower temps, right? i doubt its colder outside of your FC than inside, if so, change light bulbs or something.

its cool. i think you should be able to fruit at those temps just fine. search for hypaes pinning strategy and follow that. You should be just fine.

you mean "hyphaes" pinning strategy? on the hunt
*update* found the pinning strategy
"hyphae" states that a temperature around 77 F is optimal. very depressing since mine is around 84 F

84 will work, but much more slowly, like i said. pawn shops usually have window units for 40 bucks. plus they cost a pretty penny if you have to run them too much, but at 84, you could run it on a timer to adjust that.

There are numerous ways you can lower the heat in your house without air conditioning. First thing is to make sure you aren't heating things up with your lighting system. Low wattage fluorescent light on for only a few hours a day will be enough for initiating pins. Make sure you keep other electronics off and lights off open your windows to let cool night air in and get a fan going to circulate the air. Worst case scenario you will have to use frozen bottles of water.
I've fruited in temps that varied from 80-82 degrees last summer and this past winter I was fruiting at temps ranging from 60-65 degrees. What I'm saying is that temperature hasn't been a big issue for me with cubensis. Strain may or may not make a difference but if all else fails...B+

the martha stewart is in my closet. right now i got a cup of ice to see what good that does
i'll open the windows tonight.
as far as electronics are concerned; the bedroom lights are the only electronics active.
i live in the midwest so the area is a bit humid and hot over here, but it does cool down at night
