Amanita Hand Throbs

A couple of times when I had Amanitas (muscaria and pantherina) I started to feel my hands throbbing periodically after 2 hours or so. I think it was predominantly my left hand throbbing in both cases. I know muscimol is not particularly toxic so is this perhaps from the muscarine? And why does that happen?

Hi,
It's been a while since I've eaten Amanita Muscaria (Soma). But all in all, I've eaten it about 25 times. Picked it, also. It is the best drug in the world, in my own opinion. A couple of my experiences are on erowid, one of them is at: http://www.erowid.org/experiences/exp.php?ID=33297
Anyway, what you describe, sounds like what I've heard called 'tendon jump'. My hands start to twitch when the trip is setting in on amanita.

I just read your experience report on erowid - very interesting. I've personally never experienced anything that profound on Amanita alone and I've consumed considerably more than 9 grams before.
My first time with Amanita was the single most intense trip of my life but I owe this to the fact that the 1/2 oz. of muscaria was combined with 5 woodrose seeds and some 10x salvia extract. I clearly had no idea what I was getting myself into. I ate the amanitas first. Then an hour and a half later, when I wasn't feeling anything yet, I ate the seeds. A short while after that I felt some nausea coming on so I tried a little of the salvia and almost instantly - BAM. I was trisected (or so I like to call it) and with each motion the 3 pieces of me began to slide apart from each other. I left the room that I was in and had the sensation that I was floating above myself, looking down at my body as I walked down the hallway in my apt. Definitely some borderline scary stuff. And I haven't even gotten into the worst of it.
But yeah, aside from the hand throbs Amanitas alone don't do anything for me but make my body feel a little like jello. Alternately, salvia alone doesn't seem anywhere near as intense either. Maybe I should try steeping and making a tea (soma) sometime too. Perhaps it would be a more rewarding experience. I'm just surprised that the "Tendon Jump" didn't bother you more. When it happens to me I can't help but feel worried for my safety.
