San Pedro Cactus Germination

Sorry! I know this is for mushroom cultivation but I'm trying to germinate some San Pedro seeds and I had a couple questions.
My first question might be a stupid one but once you've planted the seeds do you need light on the pots while you're trying to germinate them? Obviously there's nothing above the soil mix to benefit from the light but I didn't know if some heat might be beneficial.
Secondly, I've read that to germinate these you need to keep them in a humid environment so I have the pots inside large clear ziploc storage bags. I've been misting them lightly every day but I'm wondering if the bags should be left open at all.
Lastly, at what point should I give up and start over with my other seeds. So far it's been about a week and a half and I don't see anything popping up yet. Thanks much!

this isnt jsut for mushroom cultivation, right now your in ethnobotanicals, we will help you...
If the seeds are in pots, and the soils wet, then the temp will open it, and it will sprout..
Ive never germinated cactus seeds but thats how ive done it..
When i germinate though, i put the seeds between a wet paper towle and zip it up in a bag with no air, and hang it in my window

give em at least 6 weeks to germ.
the ziplock is kew, but u might want to keep it open partly for a bit of ventilation, your biggest enimy is fungus.
the seeds do need light to germinate, so i hope you didnt cover them to heavily.
heres a detailed guide on growing cacti: http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/5048950#Post5048950

Thanks for the replies. I actually posted this in "Mushroom Cultivation" originally but it was moved to the Ethnobotanical Garden.
6 weeks is a little bit. The directions that came with my seeds said 1 week so I guess that's why I'm being impatient. That's what I'm starting to love about botany though - the fact that it teaches you patience so often.
Up to now (for a week and a half) I've just had them on my desk without any light on them. Will that keep them from germinating or should I still hold out hope and give it a couple months now that they're in my windowsill?
