Has anyone tried this?

Well, I couldn't find any malt extract so I this is what I did: I took about 100g of finch birdseed, added about 350ml of water and started boiling it. I used a rod to smash up the birdseed while it boiled. After about an hour, I strained out the seeds and I had about 200ml of thick juice. I added some agar and plated a few dishes. I innocolated the dishes with some mycelium from one of my mexi-cub jars. After a week, I rechecked on these dishes and to my surprise, it was growing! ...and was healthy too. Speed of growth is not too bad and is worth a try.

yup...I do not use this or other contents full strenght but mixed with other agar-recipe components..
great to start out right to acclimate strain to substrate...have used pinch of manure in agar mixes if the final
substrate will be the same manure...and other suppliments...
