So I made someone's last tea today.

I make these 'tea plates' in a tea house, which contain tea sandwiches, small cakes and other shit like on a plate.
A person who used to visit the tea house often moved to Vancouver, and is now dying.
Their dying wish was to have one last Light Afternoon (the tea plates I make). So their family took the ferry over to Vancouver Island, and drove into Victoria, just to pick up this final tea I made for them.
(Just thought I'd share since if you're reading this you probably have nothing better to do right now.)

How was that? How did it make you feel?

It's a weird feeling making someone's dying wish come true.
I'll probably never feel that same feeling again.

Did they come specifically for you or the goodies? Or both?

That's pretty crazy. Death is a strange thing, the effects it has on people. And yet putting myself in the place of welcoming death--what I'd do before I died, should I know it was coming--I can relate. I'd totally want to soak up every good experience I've ever had, every smile, and do everything I could "one last time" and see those I cared about before I went. Life cycles are funny things.

I just started working there a couple months back. But I'm sure the person who taught me how to make the teas, made teas for that person.

Hopefully, for his sake, he's not on anything when he works.

its a beautiful thing you were able to partake in that persons last moments and make it a little brighter for them.
-------------------- No point in mentioning these bats, I thought. Poor bastard will see them soon enough "There's a uh, big machine in the sky, some kind of, I dunno, electric snake, coming straight at us." "Shoot it." "Not yet, I want to study its habits. "
