reasons for illegalizing marijuana

I was watching a documentary on E! or Bravo or something like that about the illegalization of marijuana and it said that the government made it illegal to stop illegal immagration. The immagrants from Mexico were selling pot to Americans so the government started a propoganda campaign telling people that it is bad for you and if you smoke it you will go to Hell. Since people still bought it they just finally decided to make it illegal all together. If this is true (which it probably is since government is obsessed with propoganda) then people need to know this, especially citizens and congress who will be allowed to vote about the issue if it ever comes up on ballads.

This is in fact true. It was made illegal as a scape goat to deport mexicans who were infringing on labor markets in southern states. Why it has continued to be illegal is a whole nother story, one of which has millions of people brainwashed in every sense of the word.

I honestly do not believe that you can point to any single cause as the sole reason why cannabis, or any drug, is illegal.

I think you can, actually, point a single cause for certai drugs. Here in Canada, the Opium Act of 1908 outlawed manufacture, importation and sale of Opium despite the fact that opium had a rather insignificant impact on society. The main reason is that it was generally associated with Chinese immigrants and because of a general asiatic resentment amongst the population (especially in the west). Within a year, the medical establishment also pressured the government to further enforce the restriction of opiates for patenting purposes.

It wasn't so much the fact that Mexicans were smoking it, but rather the fact that they were "corrupting our white children" with it. But that isn't the only reason why it's illegal. William Randolph Hearst, the famous newspaper tycoon, worked hard to get it made illegal, possibly because of the competition that hemp posed to the pulp paper industry, in which he was heavily invested.

its a renewable resource.
many big industries are threatened by it.
It is easily demonized by the moral oligarchy.
The alcohol and tobbacco industries are threatened by it.
Prohibition is also a means to enforce racism.
The churches are threatened by pot as well.
plus, it would be worthless if it were legal.

The Mexican Connection
In the early 1900s, the western states developed significant tensions regarding the influx of Mexican-Americans. The revolution in Mexico in 1910 spilled over the border, with General Pershing's army clashing with bandit Pancho Villa. Later in that decade, bad feelings developed between the small farmer and the large farms that used cheaper Mexican labor. Then, the depression came and increased tensions, as jobs and welfare resources became scarce.
One of the "differences" seized upon during this time was the fact that many Mexicans smoked marijuana and had brought the plant with them.
However, the first state law outlawing marijuana did so not because of Mexicans using the drug. Oddly enough, it was because of Mormons using it. Mormons who traveled to Mexico in 1910 came back to Salt Lake City with marijuana. The church was not pleased and ruled against use of the drug. Since the state of Utah automatically enshrined church doctrine into law, the first state marijuana prohibition was established in 1915. (Today, Senator Orrin Hatch serves as the prohibition arm of this heavily church-influenced state.)
Other states quickly followed suit with marijuana prohibition laws, including Wyoming (1915), Texas (1919), Iowa (1923), Nevada (1923), Oregon (1923), Washington (1923), Arkansas (1923), and Nebraska (1927). These laws tended to be specifically targeted against the Mexican-American population.
When Montana outlawed marijuana in 1927, the Butte Montana Standard reported a legislator's comment: "When some beet field peon takes a few traces of this stuff... he thinks he has just been elected president of Mexico, so he starts out to execute all his political enemies." In Texas, a senator said on the floor of the Senate: "All Mexicans are crazy, and this stuff [marijuana] is what makes them crazy."
On another note, around the same time Ashlinger, Oliphant and Dupont worked to destroy the hemp market so to clear the way for synthetic textiles. They did just that in 1937 with the Marijuana Tax Act.

Nothing more exciting than loosing your job because of a drug charge too eh?
Get your excitement from getting laid or something, pot shouldn't be illegal.

Criminals want it to remain illegal. $250-$480 an oz!!!! They're making a fucking fortune and filtering it into the sinister agency of organized crime.....Al Capone style. All thanx to all our outstanding prohabitionist "leadership".
Prohibition promotes: Organized crime. Terrorism. Deforestation of our wonderful planet. Persecution of peace loving citizens. (Modern day witch-hunts). Estrangment and basic torture of the sick and dying. High gas prices!
I'm gonna stop, read Jack Herers book...The Emporer Wears No Clothes. He's the man.
