bulk cloning idea??

I don't know if this will work or not???
My idea is to take fully colonized half pint rice cake(s) and put this in a blender (or some similar mixing device all under super sterile conditions of course) with a HUGE amout of substrate (such as more brown rice and vermiculite) and blend it all together. I'm thinking of like making a 5 gallon bucket turn into one big damn colonized rice cake. From there it gets made into casings.
edit: is there a quick way to steralize a hugh amount of substrate? it would take 4ever for me to do it in my 2 little pressure cookers

Try spawning to poo. Get a bunch of poo, pastuerize it in a big ice chest (check my sig), then add your crumbled cakes to it. H/poo is much better suited to avoid contams then uncolonized BRF and verm.
If you can't find poo, try THIS .

thats basically what i was just getting at in your other thread, its called bulk spawning. brf and verm isn't really a good choice, but things like coco coir, horse manure, or even straw works well. you don't have to sterilize a bulk substrate, pasturizing is sufficient, so it doesn't need to go into your pc. because you start with a bunch of live mycelium, it colonizes very quickly before contaminates have a chance. there's tons of teks out there and thats how most people grow besides the cake method. you do end up with a huge amount of substrate from only a few jars worth of colonized spawn. you can use your pf cakes and crumble them up into small pieces and use them as your spawn.
its a good thought if you just came up with it and hadn't realized it, and shows you're on the right track.

Forgot to mention coir, thanks creamcorn.
It works good too:

WBS spawned to coir, no casing (Puerto Rican Strain)

I'm gonna have to read the tech and FAQ stuff on this.
How much bulk crap do you think 30 half pint jars could spawn?

You had no casing?? So the coir (or crap if thats what is used), after it gets colonized just gets thrown into a plastic container, you have no wet vermiculite on the bottom of that?

a safe ratio is 1 parts colonized spawn to 4 parts bulk sub, so... quite a bit.

Thats a great idea!!!! You sure the regular plastic cooler won't melt? 180F isn't technically that hot, I mean couldn't it get hawter? Up to 220 maybe to be safe to kill all contams.

180 is where you want to be. there's a difference between pasteurization and sterilizing. pasteurizing will kill off molds but leave behind certain types of bacteria that are actually beneficial, and it helps keep a balance that prevents the whole mix from becoming contaminated later. if you completely sterilize the bulk substrate you can actually become more prone to contamination. i know it sounds a little odd but this is one case where the contams go to work for you

Sounds like some high school biology.
Only one more question for now, How wet should the poo be?
Thanx everyone for helping, I think this all cleared things up for me.

Field capacity. When you squeeze it gently by your hand, it should just barely drip. When you squeeze it hard, it should come out in a "stream".

Also, the less spawn you use, the slower the colonization, the more, the faster. Take all of your half pint jars and spawn them to about 4 times the poo. Throw it all into a mono or doubletub and your in business!

Ok so once the colonized poo is in the plastic container, the lid goes on and no humidification is needed? What do I do about air exchanged?
edit: would this smell a room up like crap??
