vermiculite fading to white??
    #5772823 - 06/20/06 03:16 PM (17 years, 7 months ago)

hello gang. what do you think would cause the vermiculite left on top of a cake to fade or turn white? doesn't really look like cobweb. not positive. i dunked for 12 hours and then the verm faded pretty fast after i took them out. i dunked two other ones and the verm still looks the same. do not notice anything else wrong with them.

The mycellium is continuing to colonize  if its in your FC are you sure your giving it the proper tempature drop, also check your humidity level.

the first two days the temperature was too high(83-86), so i've been adding in frozen bottles to drop it. i'm not sure about the humidity. you think it'd be too high or too low?

*edit to add- one of the cakes has started to pin. which you can kinda see in the second pic.

Humidity should be near or at 100% for cakes. Fan often. Wait.
