and your point is,

I guess I should have phrased it with a question:

Can you define "fun"?

Once you do that, then you can just hack out anything in your life that doesn't qualify as "fun". Then when you do that, get back to me and let me know how things are.

I think it is to lose suffering.

Or to gain it all (suffering), and come to terms with it perhaps?

I would argue that if one truly came to terms with suffering they would no longer be suffering.

I was actually agreeing with you

I was just helping along what you said, because I figured what I said was what you were trying to say. Sorry to confuse.

Oh yeah, I was just adding in what I really felt about the issue. Not arguing, I realise we were building something constructively.

Much love.

Re: Whats the point to philosphy?

it's just another version of another man's truth...

he puts it down on paper

and you poop on it

its human nature...

together we make a lot,
separate we make a heep.

faith makes a lot

human nature pees on it

To keep your brain (mind) in shape. You work out at the gym, or run to keep your body physically conditioned, so couldn't philosophy be a mental workout? It keeps your ego from growing stagnant in your current mindset by continually changing. Sometimes I feel just as satisfied after a philosophical discussion as I do when I get done a long, hard lift at the gym: I'm exhausted but if I keep at it I know it will pay off.

As for mathematics, I think all subjects and disciplines are philosophy. The literal translation of philosophy is the love of knowledge, but that could pertain to knowledge of any kind. When you learn/practice math and then apply it, you're still "doing" philosophy.

People suffer because they don't see things from a different perspective, which leads to a feeling of genuine hopelessness, but with a dynamic perspective it is much easier to see that the suffering isn't necessary. The world chances just a little bit every day, so there will always be something new to discover. There will always be more than one way to look at a situation.
