yeah, and if you read the articles a bit more, then youll see that most of the missile test data is bullshit, and that they didnt actually work that well.
and as for the lack of detrimental implact was beacuse the bikinni atoll tests were done on an island, not a populated area.
read up on nuclear winter, downwinders, and fallout. then try and tell me that its not that enviornmentally efective.

In such times as ours however, when there is too much order, too much m management, too much programming and control, it becomes the duty of superior men and women and women to fling their favorite monkey wrenches into the machinery. To relieve the repression of the human spirit, they must sow doubt and disruption" "People do it every day, they talk to themselves ... they see themselves as they'd like to be, they don't have the courage you have, to just run with it."

A lot of countries despise america...
Sooner or later I believe the world will end or be majorly destroyed somehow involving the us..
Im not an american-hater, im actually Canadian and I know a lot of americans are good people. However, if they keep venturing out into other countries it is just asking for trouble.
Nastradmous predicted things about america causing the world to end as well.. I just hope Bush plays things safe because he has a lot of power behind him and if he uses it the wrong way it can lead to catastrophic events.

it was populated, 4 islands were vaporized during the bravo test, they move the inhabitants and now 50 years later they're moving them back and giving them $700,000,000 and change
my ost was sarcastic, dont assume that our mistles arent that effective because the article said so, was it you that posted the news about the new nukes being developed?

Serious discussions of "fuck it, we should have just nuked them" are usually a sign that the person talking has no idea what they're talking about.

Quote:
We should have used nukes in Nam.
That would absolutely have made no sense at all. The Japanese Army was rigidly controlled by the Emperor who happened to be God himself.
Vietnam was a guerilla war. If you had nuked Hanoi then that would be the same effect as stuffing a firecracker into a wasps nest. You'd destroy the nest, but the wasps will be so angry that they'd take their utmost effort to sting you to death. Everybody north and south wouldve become VC if you nuked Vietnam, in guerilla warfare thats like martyring a CITY. So no, bad idea. If there is a conflict of Conventional Army vs Guerilla Army then the Conventional Army always loses. The USA in Vietnam and the USSR in Afghanistan proved that.
Quote:
It takes time for things to recover but its not forever.
Most of the radioactive material that was present in the Heroshima/Nagasaki bombs, gram for gram, still is radioactive today and will be just that for millions of years more. The radioactivity becomes less and less, but it takes one stray neutron or gamma ray to disrupt a strand of DNA.
Quote:
Using nukes does not neccesarily mean everyone dies.
Tactical nukes typically are smaller than the Heroshima bomb, typically 0.5-5 kT (compared to 10-15 kT) these small bombs which are most likely to be used in future conflicts kill mostly by radiation.
Radiation death is a horrible thing. Snap! in one flash you get your dose and you die a gruesome death in the days or months thereafter. Many survivors remain sickly the rest of their lives.
Websearch biorobots when at the closing of the Chernobyl sarcophagus the robotcarts collected so much radiation that they kept breaking down, soldiers were deployed to do the work. Their job consisted of ninety seconds of debris shoveling, clad in lead plates, on the roofs of adjacent reactors. Most of these 20.000 people are either dead or severely disabled even today and they contacted the same isotopers and radiations as nuke victims will. Radiation poisoning is UGLY.
Then the other kind of bomb is the citybuster which is a device of usually 900kT. These are the big hydrogen bombs. These are so large that they mostly kill by thermal effects.
The Tsar Bomba of 50 Mt would give you third degree burns at 100 kilometers distance. Scorched and on fire, baking and broiling on the pavement you writhe there praying for the blast wave to put you out of your misery. That blast wave will take a full five minutes to arrive, and won't knock you unconscious but rather fan the flames or, if you are lucky, collapse a building on top of you.
Moral of the story: small nukes are worse than putting someone in a microwave and big nukes are like napalming a region miles and miles across. It's all slow, agonized death, and on top of that there's lasting radiation.
Don't underestimate nuclear weapons: they are the most horrible weapon stockpiled today.
--------------
Well the US did a test to show they can intercept a missile. LOL to that! Intercept it when it re-enters the atmosphere, at 15.000 miles per hour, after it MIRV-ed into five independent maneuverable warheads flying in all directions at said speeds.
And if these five warheads reach five cities and break up into submunitions of lets say engineered smallpox or a genetically modified ebola strain, one rocket might bring America to its knees. They will then nuke the shit out of North Korea, but that does nothing to diminish their own catastrophy.
The 600kg payload of the North Korea missile could well harbour a MIRV system with 5 individually manuvrable warheads which can contain nukes, chems or bioweapons. The thing to fear would definitely be bioweapons, any nation can have those ready in a month and super ones can be produced in a small facility in a year.
Let them fire their missile. It will give the world the information on its true capabilities, and they could static-test it anyway. There won't be a warhead on this one, its just politics.
