dried out popcorn jar

I have a quart jar filled with popcorn that has stalled. i would say that it is about 30-40 percent colonized but looks very dried out. My question: will the growth in the jar continue or is it necessary for me to inject some water or should i just cut my losses and try and case (or spawn) the colonized popcorn kernals and discard any uncolonized parts. What would you guys suggest? thanks...

Personally, if it's dried out, I would try injecting some water, or better yet some karo solution (a little extra nutrition for the myc). Depending on how dried out it is, I would say inject like 5ccs or more of sterile solution, then turn the jars to distribute the liquid between the kernals until it doesn't pool anymore.
I recently injected 5ccs of karo solution into a popcorn jar that was colonizing very slowly (about 20% colonized), and it has sped up nicely.

ither way you run the risk of contamination, Todd gave a recomendation I'd normaly never try but, if the jar is dried out and you're looking at a loss anyway it certainly wont hurt to experiment

Done this myself and would've said pretty much exactly the same thing. Water + flask + sugar -> sterilise -> let cool -> suck up & inject
Whenever you introduce something new to your jar or manipulate it in some way you increase the risk of it failing, but you should be able to do this without any problems.
I think I used about 10cc for a jar of RGS that I'd only soaked for ~1 hour in water before draining (so it was a touch dry).

Did you shake them during the colonization? Shaking popcorn has always decreased colonization times and increased the density of myc for some people....some jars wont ever fully colonize without shaking.
