What is conflict, why does it exist, and what does it say about humanity?

It says humanity is like the rest of the world and maybe beyond.

Conflict generally arises when the self-interest of two beings clash together, and for whatever reason, the beings are unable to reach a compromise or resolution.
I don't know what reason it has for existing, but it comes about very often out of selfishness and through beings trying to exert control over things that are beyond their control.
To me, it says that as a whole, humanity needs to hurry up and mature!

Conflict does not exist but as an abstract sense of the nature of a certain occurence.
Conflict exists in the mind of the observer. I've often seen individuals proclaim "Conflict!" when it is simply interaction.
 Peace.

I was not specifically talking about conflict among 2 beings, but rather conflict in general. Whether pathological, social, moral, etc...

I just stated above that I wasn't talking about that sort of conflict, but more so inner conflict.
Struggle from within.

I think it's the same type of thing, just on a different level. Inner conflict arises from two aspects of yourself desiring or being averse to opposing things.

i would say conflict right now comes from letting stupid people manipulate and make stupider stupider people.
there's no real need for conflict in the civilized portion of our planet right now, at least not violent conflict, it's jsut that people get hyped up over nothing through their leaders systematic chain pulling

conflict doesn't occur just through the leader, it arise based on desperation of some situation, poverty, hunger, religion. Religion is a big one, self-rightous religious fanatics claiming there doing the will of god, that some how god gives them permission to be judge jury and executioner. Leaders do perpetuate the problem, because their egos are so inflated and thirst for more power becomes insatiable that they will do anything to retain or gain more power, some leaders will rule with an iron fist to prevent a cue, and so they will extradite their cabinet by harsh means, other leaders want more resources, politics plays a huge part in conflict,
